terminal
Baka-mplayer, it's designed with the anime connoisseur in mind.

Average linux user at work
Gnome MPV obviously

>use the minimalist GUI to cycle through subtitles or audio
it's perfect

What does Baka-mplayer have that mpv doesn't?
mpv <file> &
Mpc-hc
SMPlayer because it allows me to look online for subtitles with a right click and its "compact mode" is more minimal than MPV itself.
>>60645159
Yep, SMPlayer is fantastic.

the one it comes with
Since there's no mpv thread might as well ask here. Is there any benefit of having either SSimSuperRes or KrigBilateral if I watch 1080p videos on 1080p display. And if there is, which one should I use (I also use adaptive sharpen)?
Smplayer because it has an mpc hc layout option and I like it.
I just went back to using mpc hc on windows though. It's better

>"compact mode" is more minimal than MPV itself
how can you possibly get more minimal than this with a video player?
>>60645857

no

remove the progress bar
>>60645996
By not having that hideous progress bar.
Isn't the thing it comes with considered as GUI?
mpv
>>60646869
>Thing that comes with it
What don't you get? This thread is retarded. "The thing that comes with it" is called mpv itself. Using anything else is just dumb.
>>60647605
MPV on its own doesn't work with Wayland.
>>60648235
That's what SMPlayer is for.
