That last one makes perfect sense. You're assigning a reference to the object in the case of non-primitives. Every language that uses reference abstraction behaves the same way, including Java, JavaScript, and python

I never really like PHP until I discovered Phalcon, really great framework you can rattle together a JSON api in about an hour or so.
