Quite frankly, I don't really give a shit about what he's personally passionate about. Proper technicians have way more ways of troubleshooting than just replacing caps and giving up. There are all sorts of steps you take and measurements you can make to try to determine why a product isn't working. There's technical documentation and schematics you can look at and he does none of it. You're lucky if he gets the multimeter out in an episode.

Swapping parts in an ibook can be done by any retard. Give a nigger a dollar and he can do it too. It doesn't take any knowledge or skill.
