They have the Debian installer, you just need the installer iso, not the live iso.

How do runit/OpenRC/other alternatives compare to systemd? Both from design point of view and performance.

Design: far simpler, easier to manage
Performance: 3x faster bootup (if that matters) and naturally less ram usage
