Do you get OK airflow with either of those? Fell for the shitty S340 elite meme (Kill the sidewindow fags like me plz) and the airflow is shit

I have a Fractal Design Define R4. I bought it when it came out five years ago. Now I'm going to move in a new house, and probably won't have that much desk space anymore: what's a good case that
>I can lay horizontal and tuck under the monitor like old 90s PC

>has comparable build quality and noise insulation

>>60639949
It's a device-by-device thing. Lots of FW stuff shipped physically designed to use FW (since that was standard at the time) but also able to talk USB if it detected +5v coming over the bus rather than +9v or higher (FW actually didn't have a spec voltage, and Apple laptop implementations, which were the most common users, just dumped unrectified battery power straight onto the bus.) Think hard drive iPods kinda, though those used mechanical separation in the cable as a simpler solution.

Now, if you use these adapters in reverse, especially on a desktop or PS2, you WILL let out the magic smoke.

I initially bought a Silverstone SG05, but my mainboard was too big, its micro-ATX. I traded it for this Fractal case, which is nice but weights a lot.

I would rather have my gpu's weight resting on the pcb of the motherboard than on the small connection between the two.

I'm looking for a matx one with the capacity to hold a standard atx power supply, and at least one 5.25" drive bay.

The main ones I know of either skip the cd drive slot or are huge like that HAF one that is atx.

what is the power supply grounding.

either this is bait, or you're a fucking dog on the internet.. stop using your owners PC scruffy!!
>>
>>60664587
Apparently you are a fucking idiot. The PC "power supply" adapts the mains AC voltage in a handful of DC voltages useful inside the PC, that conversion radiates EMI, no problem thou as the PSU is encased in metal. Now, almosteverything else you connect to the output wires of the power supply, does even more power conversion and that radiates EMI that is not shielded by anything if you don't use a properly grounded computer case around such components.
Not only that but every oscillating signal generated in the motherboard, CPU, RAM, HDD; every piece of computer hardware, also radiates EMI.
In the "all glass and acrylic" PC case posted, there is no shielding around the PC components so it's like running them in open air, they produce EMI all around.

CAVEATS being it has shit watercooling compatibility unless you hacksaw it, and you gotta make sure your GPU and CPU heat fins are parallel with air flow, some GPU heatsinks perform subpar in the vertical orientation. SLI/Crossfire with blower-style cards and m2 ssd temps are excellent though.

You have a very loose definition of "really cool"

Man, I really want one of those jonsbo cases

they look amazing

Better than the case I was using at the time. I wanted the case you were using but I couldn't afford it at the time.

Bitfenix Prodigy, Corsair 250D, Lian Li PC-Q08, etc. Just type in "cube case" and you will get a lot of results.
>>
>>60664876
I had the same case as well, and I remember it was a bitch to take the thing apart. I think they used proprietary screws.

Thermaltake Core X9. Yes it's giant, but it's comfy as fuck.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133275&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Cases+%28Computer+Cases+-+ATX+Form%29-_-N82E16811133275&gclid=CjwKEAjw07nJBRDG_tvshefHhWQSJABRcE-ZCUNX3Fyfq7X_FRDKowi2HIDFO26Du6DC0KemwotDyRoC1ezw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Best Features:
>Sideways mounted mobo (with removable plate)
>Rail mount system for fans along top
>Magnetic dust filters along top and side vents
>Rail mount in the body for additional hard drive bays with sliding mounts for each drive.
>Tons of rubber protected ports inside of the body for cable management

It was a super easy for me to install and mount everything in my current build inside of it and I have dual GPUs in SLI, a water cooling unit for the CPU, and a 4 drive raid running through a pci-e card. Really the best part is the horizontal mobo mount and the removable plate. I can't imagine going back to a vertical case.

I've been reusing one of these Chieftec chassis since forever. I've probably had it since 2004 at least, and just kept replacing the insides. It's sturdy like no other chassis I've seen, so I'm not looking to change anytime soon.

don't buy fractal. I have an xl and it is garbage. Shit starts rattling from time to time and when I push on the side of the case I can deform it. My cooler master atc was better in every way.
>>
>>60676984
How do those cases work? Could you replace the insides with something that isn't 15 years old, or is it all custom?
>>
>>60640074
I currently have the G600 arctic white case, but I'm thinking of upgrading to this one soon. Plus I'll probably be helping my gf build a pc and just giver her my "old" parrts
>>
>>60677014

It's normal ATX, just a sexy case.
And the connector for power button/led is propriety, but you can easily replace the 4 pins with proper contact units.
>>
>>60677207
Might actually consider, then. I've always liked those Sun cases.
>>
>>60677279
If it will be possible to get those in ATX configurations, it would actually be fun to do a K12 build in such a case to keep the RISC legacy alive.

+ Looks nice
+ OK Cable management
+ Hidden 3.5" and 2.5" slots
+ Fairly silent
+ Fairly cheap
+ Fits 170mm CPU coolers despite papers saying 160mm

- Intake holes are too tiny → shitty airflow
- No room for radiator at top, would be too close to MB
- Holes for cables are too close to the MB, makes them awkward
>>
>>60667603
got it too, I'm disappointed by front IO, the power button is plastic trash that gets stuck constantly

Great case, I had one of those for a long time. Lasted me until 2007 when I bought a pic related. I recently threw out the chieftec when clearing up the attic at my parents house though, since it's not very well suited for modern hardware.
