Does AR have more practical applications than VR?
>>
>>60631557
when you consider functionality, it's actually worse because of the added environmental calculations

with vr you can create everything what ar can but more efficient towards the human body because only your mind is being used.

the Matrix doesn't run in AR as well because of this

i'm talking bout endgame now though
>>
>>60631557
AR has practical applications, but not nearly as many as VR
>>
>>60631594
>>60631760
t. consumers

AR has better industrial potential, especially when combined with IoT

VR is good mostly for entertainment. not so much for anything else
>>
>>60631557
I think AR is more practical for the real world. It's a HUD basically.
>>
>>60632347
VR would be useful in operating a drone remotely or simulations, what would AR be useful for?
>>
>>60634401
GPS while driving. Phone display while walking that sorta thing.
>>
>>60634401
Any work where you actually have to move
>>
>>60634427
why not look at a map for 5 minutes beforehand and use the part of the brain that took millions of years to evolve to be used for navigation
>>
>>60634510
>human brains evolved for driving cars
>>
>>60634401
construction, warfare, transportation/navigation, police work, etc
>>
>>60631557
You can look at your opponent's power level.
>>
>>60634510
you don't have to take your eyes off the road or whatever to get information. Soldiers on the battlefield, navigation, police, medical etc...
VR will require full immersion, but basically one could do the other if the hardware is designed correctly.

To be fair culture and techonology are major influences in nautral plasticity, that includes driving cars.
>>
>>60631557
Both could have great appliations on therapy.

No. people buy vr because they want to escape reality. They sure as fuck dont want their tiny messy as fuck rooms to become an even bigger part of their life.
>>
>>60631557
Yes, AR has more real world practical applications yet everyone is hyping nauseating VR.

Humans are retarded.

And so the Wired entangles itself even more into the real world.

You guys *sure* you want this VR/AR stuff?

Patience young padawan. When the vr craze dies down companies will move to ar as the next moneymaking scheme, then we can all screech at them for overpricing it to the moon. Remember 3d?

My faovrite movie xDDD, Drumpf is like that scene with Kylo Ren! xDDD

Did you take your meds today anon?
>>
>>60631557
after VR dies i'm sure the idea guys will blow a few more billions in venture capital on AR
>>
>>60634510
Because sometimes roads get closed for repairs that aren't marked on a map, then you have to go somewhere else and the GPS needs to recalculate your route? Sometimes people are dangerous drivers and don't let you merge and so you miss a turn and so you need to have your GPS recalculate your route? Pretty much any other reason for missing a turn, because most people theoretically use turn-by-turn navigation to go somewhere they've never been before and are naturally then in an area they're unfamiliar with and need to be able to have their directions updated?
>>
AR is INFINITELY more useful than VR in day to day activity. But they are not meant to compete with each other. VR will still be used for training exercises, and visualizing impossible to see and interact with worlds like nanobots and cellular structure with out the use of molecular microscopes.
>>
The question is, when VR dies, will it get open enough so some interesting things come from it?
>>
I got to try google glass, and it's pretty badass.

Every VR thing (be it phones with lenses, or dedicated VR googles) I've tried felt underwhelming, jittery, and had simple graphics because of the high resolution.

How many patents is Zuckerbitch sitting on?

How about Fatwell?

They aren't even close to giving those up. And it will be another 20-30 years before we try this BS again.
