EC controllers are known to be extremely power hungry (due to lack of power management via EC). And just to remind everyone: shitpads got power issues with EC port, that's why it's so painful to use PE4L eGPU modules. EC port is rated 5V/0.75(?)A, so you'll have problems with powering up 2,5" external HDDs unless you supply even more power from usb 2.0.

Well deus desu, I use my 2570p + eGPU as the only and main computer. I absolutely hate duplicating data between server/laptop/desktop so I just use my 2570p for everything.
I've used only thinkpad before I gave HP a chance and got it instead (x220, x230, t420, t430, t440p, x201, x120e, t530, w530) and believe me, I regret nothing. I've learnt to live without middle trackpoint button easily, because touchpad is made of glass and it's very responsive, so I dedicated it for scrolling only. HP stock ribbon is cancer, so I replaced it with thinkpad stick.
And believe, it's god tier. You'd love it too.

If you've tried using eGPU hardware with shitpads you probably experienced issues with link staying at 1.1 x1 speeds (2.5Gbps) which unfortunately happens on these indian engineered sublaptops, but this doesn't mean eGPUs are bad or unusable.

You'll never reach 5Gbps. HDMI cable depending on it's lenght is causing degradation of performance. So unless you prove it actually uses this bandwidth it's safe to assume you're lying.
My hp 2570p has 85% of these 5Gbps (4.25Gbps). The standard in x230 and PE4L v2.1b is 3.5Gbps.
