Is Opera patrician now?
>>
It was patrician until they switched to Chrome's engine.
>>
>>60622008
I'm no techie, can you give me a quick rundown?
>>
>>60622014
>it wasn't using Chrome's engine
>now it does
>>
>>60622014
opera is a skin for chromium
>>
>>60622026
That's an explanation
>>60622021
That wasn't you fucking nigger
>>
>>60622014
>Opera 12 does pretty much everything out of the box. Customizable as fuck, loads of features, built-in mail client, built-in torrent client, built-in IRC client, built-in content blocking, etc.
>They bump the version number to 15 and completely ditch their rendering engine in favor of Chrome's
>Opera 15 doesn't even launch with fucking bookmarks
>>
>>60622049
It got plenty of features though, many of them are plain weird or shitty, but it's the least worst browser right now. Maybe except Vivaldi if you want to autistically adjust color of every element of the UI.
>>
>>60622077
>>60622049
Is there a way to just use 12?
>>
>>60622077
>It got plenty of features though
Nowhere near as many as were lost, and it's especially disgusting since they promised their users that they would bring all of the features back.

Vivaldi has made more progress in replacing Opera 12 than Opera themselves have, and Vivaldi hasn't been around nearly as long.

>>60622088
If you don't care about sites breaking for you because it doesn't get updates anymore, yes.
>>
>>60622100
All that's missing is mail and torrent client, and the ability to switch tabs by mouse wheel. In other regards it surpassed the old Opera.
>>
>>60622100
Is Vivaldi trust-worthy?
>>
>A browser based on open source project
>it is closed source
No, only Opera variant I'll ever run is Otter Browser, not this fucking bullshit
>>
>>60622120
Tab stacking. Deep UI customization to the point of choosing which buttons I want, the size of the buttons, and choosing to remove the Opera button.

Also, private tabs in the same window as my regular tabs.
>>
>>60621743
whoever wrote that article is the dumbest nigger ever
>>
I don't care if Vivaldi was made by the original Opera guys. Opera is better than Vivaldi by far. Vivaldi is literally the shittiest web browser I've ever used, and I've used Brave
>>
>>60622166
Can't argue with those dubs

I'm using Opera right now

As you guys know it's just fucking chrome. But I use it because it has a decent dark theme built in and I lose nothing of value. It's just chrome with more features, maybe except syncing shit which I don't use much anyways.
>>
>tfw using opera 12 right now

proof?

can't be bothered taking a screenshot but please believe me
version 12.17
>>
Opera was nice back in version 11.

But then 12 was a madman. Crashing everywhere. I couldn't fucking handle that shit.

Toppest kek.
>>
>>60622088
as much as i love 12, i've had to abandon it. heavy sites like facebook will slow it down big time. simple sites like 4chan however, will still have the fastest loading times on 12. also, hotmail or outlook no longer load on opera 12. if you have no fb account or outlook, then opera 12 won't seem too dated for now. but 5 years with no update is like an eternity.
>>
>>60622120
tell me when i can sync and create my own buttons.
>>
>>60622126
how is otter browser now? is it usable? i've been using avant lately, which is made by another presto opera fan. it's good, but lately its sync has sucked and it keeps forgetting my speed dial. my only complaint so far.
>>
>>60622175
these aren't the original opera devs though. these guys are basically old maintainers. they didn't build shit for presto opera.

You can sync since forever.
>>
>>60621743
No, Chrome is and always will be.
Chrome is only "bad" if you're poor and can't afford more than 4GB of RAM.
>>
>>60624915
Chrome's UI is absolute garbage.

How so? It's simple, clean and straight to the point.
Especially if you enable all the MD flags in chrome://flags.

New tab page opens very slowly regardless of your hardware(because it loads stuff from Google every time you open it). Can't remove profile button from the top(there used to be a flag for this but now there isn't). A useless bar appears every time you download something. Download manager is a joke, can't even restore an interrupted download. Can't install extensions outside from Google store. New tab page fills with completely irrelevant pages after some time and you have to clean the profile to get them working as intended. Now it's probably even worse, I dropped it two years ago.
>>
It's literally a closed-source chromium with preinstalled plugins. Probably useful for common folk, but I have other preferences.
>>
New Opera is pretty comfy desu. It's slowly going back to its own routes

>Inb4 botnet
Better a chink botnet than a Western one (if you're a westerner)
>>
>>60624871
Vivaldi can sync? Really?
>>
bloat the web browser
I dont need one already bloated turd to do jobs other open source software does better
>>
>>60625046
Also:
>open image on 8ch
>instead of the image pushing the page down, it pushes it up
>have to scroll up to look at the image I just opened
>close image
>instead of the screen scrolling down again it scrolls up
>have to scroll down to get back to where I was before I opened the image

>there is no easy access to the download page, either you have to have a FUCK HUGE popup banner on the bottom of your screen, or you have to navigate menus to get to the download page
>meanwhile Firefox has a nice convenient green arrow button to the top that doesn't fuck up your screen real estate every time you download a file

>when you try to download a duplicate image in Firefox, it halts the action and asks you if you really want to save the file again
>when you try to download a duplicate image in Chrome the faggot just appends (1) to it and downloads it anyways without any indication or alert

Fucking worst thing and it's what made me drop Chrome and go back to Firefox.

I've tried other browsers here and there, but Opera (12) is still the only one I'm comfortable using. The biggest problem I have is with how tabs are handled. Are there any other browsers that let you minimize tabs? Are there any other browsers (or Firefox extensions) that adjust tab behavior so when you close a tab the focus returns to the last tab you had open instead of the tab that is right next to the one you just closed?

I've been trying Palemoon lately, but Firefox browsers always feel slightly not good enough due to the above tab issues.

Never said it removed. It quite blatantly says it still phones home to google. Learn to read nigger.

is referring to Chromium, not Iridium.
