Can I get a non-meme opinion on these tablet-laptop hybrids? They certainly seem ideal for portability and versatility.

Great for portability, but limited in power. Generally pretty good battery life but you're better off with a 13" MBP if you need to do much more than edit documents and send emails. Don't cheap out on them, but don't go over the top because they can't do a lot. Wanted to get one for classes but too heavy of a workload between compiling so much shit and virtualisation
I bought a surface 3 for note taking in my classes. Absolutely love it. When it works. The pen drivers and OneNote are full of bugs that make it really hard to give it a good review. But when it works, it's amazing. I haven't attempted to do any "work" on it so I can't comment on that.

If you can call 4 hrs of heavy use good battery life.

Define heavy use.

nigger, macbooks post haswell get that much playing fucking video off streaming sites

They're basically an ultrabook in tablet form. Either way you look at it though the keyboard setup is inferior. It's fine on a table.

Why lie?

I can't even get more than 5 hours out of my surface before it dies just using chrome. Even the guy at the surface store admitted the shit dies quick.

Weird mines fine for at least 8 hours browsing but I can drop the brightness because I'm usually somewhere bright.
Sorry these things are a rip off. Pro4 is about the right price.

if I could travel back a year, i'd rather buy a surface for notetaking and more powerful piece for everything else..
instead i'm stuck with xps 13 (not complaining though, its near perfect for me, just lacking that "true" hybrid/2v1/... style) and old good papers and pencil
