16 core | 32 thread

finally i can build my dream system
a base system with 32gb ram
a windows vm with 4cores/8threads and 8gb ram dedicated to it with a pcie gpu passthrough
thus leaving 12 cores/24 threads and 24gb ram to the linux host which are the exact specs that are ideal for my day-to-day life
but i can still play games on the windows vm

god please let the threadripper be <$400 please
>>
too bad virtualization a shit
>>
>>60601927
agesa 1006 will fix that.
>>
>>60601899
>god please let the threadripper be <$400 please
That's less expensive than the 1800X.
>>
>>60601899
>god please let the threadripper be <$400 please
Hahaha, really?

I expect the cheapest 12 (or 10 as some leaks suggested) will be priced above the 1800X, sorry not chance of that. I fully expect the higher clocked 16 core will be close to $1000
>>
>>60601899
So what are you using all the cores for
>>
>>60601962
>>60602065
o-oh
rip dreams

>>60602132
compiling decently large software packages as well as running a multitude of vms for deployment test servers and sometimes ill run a few game servers
>>
>>60601899
AMD's cheapest 8-core is $300+. You won't get a 16 core for less than $600-700.
>>
>>60601899

>16-cores/32threads
>less than 400$

are you fucking retarded?
>>
>>60602861
AMD needs to recoup their massive losses from bulldozer so they will likely price it similar to the 12-core thats releasing which is gonna me 1200-1300$

Thinking they would fab a 16 core chip thats competitive with CPU's that intel sells for almost 2 fucking grand and then sell it for 400$ just so some poor neckbeard faggot can have his VM's is laughable. As an AMD stockholder i would jump onto a class action lawsuit if they did something that fucking stupid.
>>
>>60602994
i dont think anyone at this point in time has enough confidence in amd to risk $1000 or more on a cpu
>>
>>60603010
$500 8-cores are flying off the shelves. It's not like you're going into it blind, you can read reviews and shit.

Except businesses running server farms which is why intel is terrified and released their doa 12 core pr.

Their performance for business workloads is a total fucking joke in RoI terms. There's zero reason to go with intel for a server/farm until intel does something new. No, raising costs and putting out an inferior product with a blue badge doesn't cut it as new.

>>60602994
>As an AMD stockholder
that explains constant amd shilling here
>>
>>60603055
You have to be 18 or older to post here
>>
>>60603035
Oh, and I forgot their , surely NSA mandated, remote backdoor hardware they've had in every system for the last decade and refused to acknowledge as a huge vulnerability until it blew up in their face.

I'm sure all businesses are loving that as much as mine and all the race conditions their cpus have too. It's actually the perfect time for AMD to take a steaming dump on intel in the business sector and this is why intel reps won't stop cold calling me hoping I'll suck their dick if they give an anemic kickback on 1k unit pallet costs.
>>
>>60603032
>drivers work fine with intel cpus
ryzen is just shit
>>

back to shillling for easy pump and dump

I'm still waiting on the single CCX + Vega GPU chips.
I think they'll be ideal for low cost gaming.

i have a 2012 ivy bridge i5 3550 3,7 ghz with turbo on, im interested in upgrading it for muh gamez

should i go for ryzen or will i not notice differencies? can i keep my actual ram? i have a gtx 1060 tho

lol?
>>
>>60603075
We know intel has had backdoors at least since sandy bridge but what about AMD? are these Ryzen chips backdoor free or just as exploitable as jewtel? I know their BIOS setup is way different from intel
>>
>>60603132
You will definitely notice a difference over an older i5, GTX 1060 might just GPU bottleneck you depending on the game though.

AM4 uses DDR4, you will need to get new RAM.
>>
>>60603132
I upgraded from an ivy bridge i5 3570 to a ryzen 5 1600 and I definitely noticed a difference.
It's better in games across the board, some games I notice a little difference and some I notice a lot.
GTAV runs way smoother now for instance, and CEMU emulates Wii U games much much better.

I'm also running a gtx 1060.
People say Nvidia ruins Ryzen performance but if you look up some breakdown videos it's been more or less debunked, and you're still going to get better performance for money than if you went Intel.
Having the spare cores also helps if you like doing shit on another display while gaming.

You will need to buy new RAM if you're using DDR3 now though.

I have i5 3470 and probably will wait for Ryzen 2. I mean its very tempting but my current one is good enough for my needs.
