Can somebody PLEASE explain to me how car key fob technology is so fucking behind? Why do people pay 600 bucks to upgrade their phone to be slightly thinner, yet my fucking key fob has this TINY AS FUCK chip in it and GM is like "lets throw a fat plastic shell on top. More photos in thread
this is with the casing on. It takes up so much space in my pocket and id love to get a slimmer car key fob, but its like there is no demand for it. Why am I the only one asking for a thinner version of this thing?

Because most people don't care about something so trivial

It's about usability you stupid fuck. Also your hands are disgustingly fat, you ham-fisted motherfucker.

yes they do. People go NUTS over incremental phone thinness / computer thinness. The macbook pro 2016 literally dropped incredibly useful ports to be like barely thinner. And the iphone losing its headphone jack, people value things being as COMPACT as possible, but when it comes to car key fobs, it seems like people are perfectly content with it being super super super fat.

I am very thin but ok.
Why don't you 3D print one? Simple fuckin solution.

i dont have a 3d printer. do you have one?

So should we make all electronics smaller just because? There is a certain point where enough is enough.
>>60600217
Yes I do

> People go NUTS over incremental phone thinness / computer thinness
this is a completely different thing.
there's not really any point to making your car key fob 1.5mm thinner. 99% of the time it's sitting around somewhere and you're (or at least non-autists) not thinking about it.
Phones and computers get used frequently and for long periods of uninterrupted time. It makes sense to optimize that experience.

It's so that when you drop your keys or throw them around the key fob has the same durability as the keys so you don't break that shit and then complain to the car company that it is to thin.
