What are some /g/-approved monitors?
Is there a list anywhere?
>>
Good question, I wonder that sometimes too but I've never actually found a list. maybe try asking in >>>/sqt/? Either way, I like this thread. I needed a monitor for a while now. can't even see what I'm typing without one. Maybe I should get my brother one, too. Jesse's just been using his phone to emulate one for a while cause his dekstop doesn't have a grafix card or something. IDK, he can't figure it out. maybe you could help me figure that out for him, you probably know more about it than us. Anyways, I gotta go now, let me know if you find any good monitors or maybe a nice TV that could work for getting better FPS's.

I'm looking for a decent entry level 1440p monitor and right now the Dell U2515H looks like the best choice, but what other alternatives in that price range do I have? I don't care about gaymen stuff, just accurate colors for photography and video work.

And what multi monitor setup do you prefer? Right now I have two monitors in landscape but I'm looking at getting one in portrait and one in landscape, but it's hard to find non-16:9 monitors that can rotate to portrait mode.

From 144 to 240 someone who was used to 144 said there's a noticeable jump, with some disminishing returns from that other jump. Don't know really since I don't have it, but if you play a lot you might notice it enough.

I have a U2515H and a U2414H. Both are great but differing sizes and resolutions is cumbersome and annoying.

I'm looking to upgrade and i'm unsure if I should
>Get another U2515H and get rid of U2414H
>Get a different 27" 1440p monitor
>ditch both and get 1 or 2 4k monitors

The main reason I am leaning towards not getting another 2515H is that it doesn't have freesync/Gsync at all; plus 4k seems cool. Is there a list of upcoming monitors at all?
>>

>>
There are no genuinely good monitors right now

So pretty much just go with whatever is cheapest until a good monitor comes out
>>
>>60588035
Dell Ultrasharps are some of the best in the game, and now that the U2515H is <$300, it's the best quality for one of the best prices.

Not much high resolution support yet, so most applications and web sites look a little wonky at 1440p.
That's really the only draw back.
>>
>>60587176
I imagine you'll be using the ultrawide as your primary, so that rules out B since you'd probably want it front and center rather than have to look up.

Then just decide what you'll use the secondaries for. For instance, a lot of programmers like having one screen vertical for code, and the horizontal for browser. So do you want two verticals, or two horizontals, or one one of each, in addition to the main? You could do C if you have the space and don't care for a vertical display, or you could even go E and stack two with one vertical off to the side...

There's really no one correct answer, anon.

It's nice if you don't want/can't have dual monitors. One of the guys I work with swears by it because he just tiles his editor and shit to make use of the width.

I thought about switching from my dual 27" to one 34" ultrawide to save a bit of desk space but outside of gaymen I think a 32" 4k monitor would serve me better.
>>
>>60586490

The Pixio panels are really, REALLY risky. Unless you can stomach stuck/dead pixels and severe IPS glow, just buy from a reputable company. It's not THAT much money. And yeah, Acer is bad to deal with, but at least you CAN deal with them.

>>60589966
They're not good panels. Your typical budget 4k TV can't output 4:4:4 (uncompressed) chroma. That's fine for TV, movies, and gaming. You'll notice it in general computing though, especially if it's only capable of 4:2:0, like the once popular Sceptre U435CV-UMC. Speaking of that particular model, like many in its price range, it doesn't use a conventional pixel configuration. Instead of RGB, it uses RGBW.

>>
Why do people insist on 1440p monitors when they should be buying 4k?
>>
okay, if you were to get a touchscreen monitor. why?
>>
>>60590392
There are very few good 4k panels, those that do exist are prohibitively expensive even for comfortably middle class consumers, the only video card that can properly drive them in recent games retails for $800, and the pixel density is higher than necessary for a 27'' display, which is already about as large as the average desk monitor can comfortably be.

I've been using a BenQ 24" 1080p TN monitor for a few years and I like it. It's a solid monitor aside from the poor viewing angles.

To be honest though, I really want to drop a grand on a set of larger monitors as soon as I get some money to blow.

My triple monitor setup that I've been rolling for years now consists of that aforementioned 24"er, an old 4:3 17" Viewsonic monitor, and an old 32" 720p lcd TV.

oh fuck i want this so badly
>>
What would be a good monitor for programming? Or "setup"
>>
Should I go for 144hz qhd or 60hz uhd? using 1080ti btw

I know theres a multitude of reasons why i shouldn't get one, but the Dell S2718D is damn fine looking. And i want it.

Sensibly i should probably go got a U2715 or some of LG's monitors look pretty nice
>>
>>60594464
I can barely tell the difference between 4K and 1080 when playing games, but I can really notice these 144hz when I really hit those. With a 1080ti you will mostly hit 100hz for sure

Variable sync seems to be the way forwards, pity Nvidia can't embrace Freesync since it's getting a lot more manufacture support now.

You should've bought LG 21:9 for maximum aestetics
>>
>>60596861
Yet those are both shitty resolutions and probobly TN Panels

You shouldn't care for more resolution such as 3440x1440 on an IPS panel
>>
>>60589028
how much you thinking? also I have little experience selling shit or packaging/shipping

No I have the 34uc79g and its IPS 144hz.

I have two AOC q2577pwq. 2560x1440 IPS at 25". Its petty nice.

Does anyone here have the 144hz VA Samsung c24fg70? I've been thinking about getting 3 of these but I'm hearing a lot about purple ghosting.

Also any comments on VA panels are welcome

The U2515H is absolutely the best monitor I've found for the price. Bought it for like 300 euros in the Netherlands.

1440p@25'' is amazing and there's absolutely no problem with reading, unless you're visually impaired.

But I think some 4k monitors from Dell are getting cheaper and maybe are a better option now.

I have the Samsung panel all the way to the right. It's great. 4 port USB 3.0 hub built in where I have my keyboard, headset, and both mice plugged in. Low input time, 60 hz(speccy reports it as 59.95hz, I dunno why). The stand it comes on is sick. Full tilt, swivel, height adjustments. Has DVI, DP, HDMI. I bought mine for close to $680 when it came out. Hey can be had for around $400 now.
>>
>>60597372
Speccy is totally bugged. Reports my 1080Ti as 3071MB.

Good 27in 1440p IPS monitor around ~$300-~350? Split between the Acer K2 Series K272HUL and the BenQ GW2765HT, but I read that both may have light-bleed problems.
>>
the best fucking monitor out there is the dell 2007fp
its 4:3 and I FUCKING LOVE IT
>>
Will a 22" 4k monitor show fonts as crisp as on macbooks?
>>
I have a benq xl2430t. Its nice, i really like the stand.

I do wish i got a 1440p g sync monitor instead. I dont play much cs go anymore.
>>
It's getting harder to choose between 4k or 1440, since most new 4k screens are the same price, and often have better features.
>>
>>60598644
Not the same price when you factor in the commitment to top-end GPU's.
>>
>>60586500
>>
>>60598804
True, but it depends how committed you are to ultra settings, even a mid range GPU can natively do 4k at medium/no AA settings.
>>
Bought a Acer Predator XR341CK from Amazon Warehouse deals, it was send back within the 30 days. It was only 650€, 250€ less then new so I bit the bullet and played the Acer lottery on hard mode.
What can I say? I think I got lucky as fuck, newest firmware, no dead pixels, no color banding issues on blue colors, no noise when browsing.
Didnt test how good I can OC it since I dont have a GPU with Display Port yet lol.
>>
>>60585335
I'd like to fall for the ultrawide meme but the price and lack of hidpi options makes it seem not worth it right now. I could get 2 24" 4k monitors for the same price as a 34" 3440x1440 monitor.

I have the same monitor. It's great for the purpose I bought it for - playing games. The G-sync and 144hz are nice...

The colors are pretty shit in comparison to a real ultrasharp. I'm thinking about upgrading my 23inch ultrasharp with a 27 inch so my two main monitors will match.
>>
>>60586490
I gamed on 60hz for a really long time and upgraded to a 144hz monitor with g-sync... shit is BUTTERY SMOOTH.... blows away any 60hz. There simply is no comparison and you'd have to be pretty inept at life to not notice a striking and huge difference.
>>
HP 2311x ever since 2012. The urge to buy a new monitor is starting to become unbearable.

I'm planning to wait for the Asus PG27UQ and its reviews, but I might give in and buy some sort of Dell Ultrasharp monitor instead.

What is your experience with placing these monitors vertically? I tried doing so recently and gave up after realizing the poor viewing angles these monitors have when placed vertically.
