to an old system, yes. but $80 thrown at cpu or gpu is a better financial decision on a new build. You can buy a ssd anytime.
If you're out of money the first thing to axe is ssd, you can always clone the hdd to ssd easily. Next is go single 8gb stick of ram. You can always get another stick for 16gb later.

It benchmarks to over 60MB/s, is at 100% health and the system unresponsiveness it causes is apparently a normal microcontroller subroutine that the disk spontaneously decides to undertake at least once a day.
I simply have no use for such large speeds, a HDD is enough.

i use pc at work with some crappy i3 and hhd instead of ssd like at home, at literally only differnce is speed at which pc loads ups. thats what you pay for with ssd, but thing is, you can just use sleep mode these days...and ssd is worthless in that case.

Why not? It's a well documented case.
A lot of software enter time-critical section, request a resource that's not in ram, so it becomes a read request to ssd, and if ssd happens to be doing "maintenance" at precisely that time, this process is locked in time-critical section until ssd becomes responsive again, and it quickly cascades to whole system hanging.
For more google something like "chrome waiting for cache ssd" - this leads to most results.

It's exclusive to ssd-only systems though, so doesn't happen on any hdd and hdd+ssd computers.
