it might not be so much 8gb for a game but rather overall if a game nears that then the os and other programs wont run properly. Its to give them overhead. Example a lot of games can reach 6gbish. Then if youre running firefox, musicplayers, background programmes, etc youll need more than 2gb for them. Usually though the games that are poorly optimised or have lazy devs will use the most ram (bf1, beta games, etc)

I'm thinking of basically completly replacing my old desktop and building a new one from the ground up.

I wanto to go for a most bang for your buck-kind of build, but I'm kind of undecided what's the best option when it comes to ram.

I'm pretty sure 8gb is going to be more than adequate for me right now, but what about 2-3 years down the road? As far as I can tell I'm not going to do anything incredibly demanding with it, except occasional gaymen.

So should I stick with 8gb, or just invest the extra 50 bucks to go for 16gb which I may or may not use in the future?
