For 90% of the people on this board the only difference between systemd and sysv is whether you type "service" or "systemctl"

Why is it so controversial then?

>one systemd to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them

It's a wedge that has been slammed in to the Linux ecosystem and is being pushed in deeper and deeper. The further it goes, the less Unix-like it is and is becoming something else instead. Many say that it makes Linux become what many had embraced Linux way back to escape from in the first place. One way or another, the influence of Red Hat over all of the ecosystem is growing with each year as they control the one thing that controls more and more.

It deletes things randomly and packages increasingly depend on it, making it a cancer.

It breaks custom scripts which arch NEET and other neckbeards hate.
>>
Complexity is the American way.
It is simply becoming Americanized.
