TIL: SD cards break in relatively short amount of time
16GB SanDisk Ultra. RIP ~2013-2017 :(

Copying something to it has high chance of ending corrupted (checked hashes). Format (both quick and not), while deleting the files it says it fails to complete. Also can't change the filesystem anymore.

Flash memory = unreliable

Most SD cards can't do wear leveling properly if not formatted to FAT32 or exFAT.
>>
>>60570119
Yeah? Well, I didn't know that. I'll look into it. Indeed, by the looks of it only a portion of it is gone, there's high chances of writing on it and resulting in no errors.
>>
>>60570095
That's fucking 4 years. Even HDDs went bad after roughly 2 to 3 years. By now you should've thought of replacing it with something way better and bigger in capacity

I have HDDs from like 2008 with zero bad sectors.

Stop shit posting and make my dinner

Teach me your magic

Not him but...
5400 RPM, never spin down EVER, never depower the drive, use checksums on your filesystem, do not physically disturb the disk and be gentle with it run it in a cool and quiet area.

Most people get an external, bang it around, and then wonder why it dies so quickly.
>>
I managed to fuck up a 64gb Sandisk card in like 8 months.
The saddest part is that it was mostly used on my MP3 player so it's not like I was using it as my main means of storage.
>>
>>60570095
Everyone remember to fight Femanon's namefagging by setting your name to Femanon.
>>
>>60572976
It's even a laptop HDD. But as this >>60573042
Do not physically disturb the disk. Especially when they are running.
>>
>>60573042
+1

5400 rpm and never powering down are extra level though. 7200 is just too good and powering off sometimes, like a couple times a month, probably isn't bad
>>
Mine from 2011 still works fine.
>>
>>60570095
>open CMD as admin
>diskpart
>list disk
>select disk # (whatever your USB Stick is)
>clean

Your USB Stick is good to go again

I have a 2.5" 250GB hard drive that came with my first laptop in 08, took it out and used it as OS drive in my first desktop circa '12, switched to using it as a steam game drive 14-16, now its in an external enclosure storing all my porn. I don't have the strength to delete my porn but if the drive fails I have an excuse to just ditch it. Drive still works perfectly but its only a matter of time.
>>
>>60576390
Have you tried variing the allocation unit size?
>>
>>60577243
Yes, I can't change anything related to filesystem anymore. It's now blocked to NTFS 64kB.
>>
>>60577260
Do you have a linux live iso with gparted on hand?
>>
That's why companies like GoPro do not recommend SanDisk Ultra. I have a SanDisk Extreme and Extreme Plus from 2012 that its still kicking.
>>
>>60577273
Yes, GParted live.
>>
>>60577306
Try it with gparted then.
It might work
>>
>>60577360
Done. Regardless of what I format into, it stays on NTFS.
>>
>>60577568
Delete partition table within gparted and then try again
>>
>>60577591
I did. I tried deleting the partition altogether. The partition just stays there even though GParted reports successful.
>>
>>60577629
well then spend 5 bucks on a new 16GB flash drive.
Don't waste your time
>>
>>60577636
I did. Although it's more than that. I paid about 15EUR for a 32GB SanDisk Ultra.
