You forgot OneDrive.
>>

Both, I have multiple accounts with multiple such providers and only upload encrypted containers.

I don't know why I go to so much trouble; the only stuff I'm uploading is pictures of my family and my doggos (who are all dead now), nothing important or incriminating. I just don't like the idea of jewgle (etc.) looking at my stuff.
>>
Both are botnets, so neither.
>>
>>60558099
Use both, you can even add One Drive to you list, they're all the same shit so might as well use all of them for maximum space.
>>
>>60558099
Google Drive because Dropbox UX/UI is trash.
>>
Drop Box: You own your data:

"By using our Services you provide us with information, files, and folders that you submit to Dropbox (together, “your stuff”). You retain full ownership to your stuff. We don’t claim any ownership to any of it. These Terms do not grant us any rights to your stuff or intellectual property except for the limited rights that are needed to run the Services, as explained below"

https://www.dropbox.com/dmca#terms

Google Drive: THEY own your data:

"When you upload or otherwise submit content to our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content."

I use jewgle drive to upload all the pictures ive saved or made with my phone or tablet and to keep my keepass db synchronized with my other devices, and i use MEGA for everything else, university stuff, private stuff etc. but would be really happy if i wouldn't have to use drive for photo syncing, but MEGA is suck at that, i couldn't set it up to upload pics from specific folders other than the camera folder, and the syncing is only worked when i specifically opened up the app

I use iOS, what is the benefit of Dropbox? Lots of people use it on the platform but why not Google Drive?

I've tried iCloud but it's a bit messy. Drive is alright as it transferred over from my Android days, but Dropbox is so popular. Is it because it's out of the way? Unlike the alternatives?

Dropbox out of those two.

I've used google drive, onedrive and dropbox.

Dropbox has the easiest to use solution when it comes to desktop/mobile app.
The pricing just sucks.

Google drive has the worst interface easily, it is such a cluster fuck to navigate and find shit.
prices are on par with dropbox except they offer different tiers in case people don't want 1TB of storage.

Onedrive falls in between dropbox and google drive in terms of interface,
The price is the reason I switched, I got office 365 + 1TB one drive for 5 users for the price I was paying just for dropbox.
>>
How's sync.com? Any good?
>>
would use onedrive, but the app is complete shit. they literally forgot to implement essential features like opening a pdf with another app.
Not kidding, the only way to open a pdf stored in the cloud is by using the shitty built-in pdf viewer that isn't even able to search your pdf or make hyperlinks usable.
To open the pdf in another app you've to download the file and navigate to it from a file manager or so.

fuck that

Drive. It works better with my Android

Can anyone confirm that MS won't delete your files in OneDrive after the subscription expires? I'm planning to get the 5TB o365 plan as another (lifetime) cloud backup for my encrypted stuff.

Also, does Drive do the same thing?

Google can't take down Google video links without getting take down requests since it's their business video hosting service.
>>
Google Drive, all the way. It's the best cloud storage service.

>>60560456

Fuuuuuuuck self-hosting. Too much that can go wrong, and there's not always someone around to fix it. If you're on vacation, or at school, or staying out of town, and your house burns down, or a tree falls on the power line outside your house, or your shitty residential ISP is just fucking off and doing maintenance for six hours, guess what? In that one situation, you've experienced more downtime than Google Drive has experienced in multiple years. They measure their downtime in *seconds*.

>>60558585

>"Alright, so let me get out my phone and grab that file. I'll just plug in my USB HDD and..."

Oh, right, that's kludgy at best and impossible at worst.

>>60558237

>as explained below:

What do you want to bet that the text to which this excerpt is referring says something very similar to what Google means by the wording of their terms?

What Google actually means when they say that they have a license to use your data is that they need those kinds of rights in order to transmit, catalog, and modify your data for use in Google services as you'd use them. In other words, when Google Photos organizes your shit, or you edit a photo via Google Drive or Snapseed, or you run Google Translate on a doc file that's in Portuguese or whatever, Google needs these rights to do those things. Also, yes, Google does analyze everyone's data in aggregate for the purposes of improving their data recognition algorithms, and these terms are for that too. That's generally harmless, though, and I'd hardly say it constitutes Google "owning" your data in the colloquial sense.

No, they're not obsolete. You're just brain dead if you don't have an SSD for your boot partition and large executables.
