Offline systems can be a good deterrent, nobody wants to stick around a 110db siren going on. If the system can be configured to play a pre-recorded message mimicking the type of remote intervention that is practiced it's a good point, most burglars will think they are breaking into a monitored site.
Cameras are only useful to check for false positives.
