Looking at buying a lenovo thinkpad with the sales on atm in australia.
Either E470, E570 or E570p.
E470 $950 with $650 savings
E570 $1,000 with $500 savings.
E570p $1150 with $150 savings.
Currently E470 is easily winning the race for me, im only going to be using it for UNI shit, basic coding shit and fucking around with linux here and there. No gaming, i have pc for that.
Any reason i shouldnt get Thinkpad E470 and got with E570/p. or a completly different option all together.
Thanks

I'd recommend staying far away from the E series. Step up to T or X series, buy refurbished or used if you can't afford a new one.

why is that

Cheap build quality, skimping on various shit like wifi to save money.
E series are Ideapads with a Thinkpad logo, you might as well buy a cheap HP or Acer machine if you intend to go that route.

fair enough, will reconsider
Get a used T420/T430/X220/X230 for like 1/5th of the price instead. New Lenovo laptops are piss (see >>60542963)

Although I don't recommend T420 and such if you were thinking of spending ~1k$, buying new isn't too smart. Get a T550 or T560 for like 500-600$ or 700-800$

I wish I could afford a E470.

Are these worth it? How well do they work? How many USB ports do they have?
>>60542890
Don't get an E-series.

That's not completely true, I owned both old and modern thinkpads and also bought an ideapad for a parent. While I agree that the E series is not a "real" thinkpad they are way better than ideapads.
