Why are so many Western nations throwing away the privileges of a free internet in favour of regulation and censorship?
>>
because they're cucks
>>
>>60538945
fpbp
>>
>>60538935
Because the "western nations" are invariably corporatocracies operated for profit rather than the good of their citizens.
>>
>>60538961
You can have profit and work for the good of the citizens, too. You just have to be less than 100% greedy.
>>
Due to the infiltration by the Jews
>>
>>60538935
the internet is haram
>>
>>60538935
Trump just freed the entire American internet though.
>>
>>60539115
No he didn't, fuck off Rajesh
>>
control the masses by controlling information
>>
>>60538935
Because the population cannot be allowed such freedom. Next thing you know the plebs will want basic rights, healthcare, and more money.

It would be the end of civilization as we know it.
>>
>>60538935
Because most nations with non-publicly funded elections have the best governments that money can buy.
>>60539069
>You just have to be less than 100% greedy.
Which is why that never happens. People capable of thinking that they've profited enough from a situation don't wind up running large corporations.
>>
>>60539443
100% greedy people should not be in charge of anything.
>>
>>60539560
>should
Should has got nothing to do with it. It's the focused always hungry people who get to the drivers' seats in life.
Replace elections with a draft, then you might reduce the influence of money on politics.
>>
>>60538935
The free information is bad for the system of control.
>>
>>60539613
>Replace elections with a draft
Hmm...

I'm in the USA. I grab the mail the second Tuesday in Nov. and open an envelope from the election commission.
Greetings, you are hereby ordered to report on or before Jan. 1 of (year+1) to the local Federal Service Board to begin your two (2) year term as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
I honestly doubt that a clean sweep at the end of every term, followed by a random selection of new members, would be worse. I'm sure it would be harder to buy.
>>
>>60539275
but you can have it eh?
>>
>>60539275
You already have more than just basic rights you entitled faggot
>>
>>60539890
This. The right to healthcare is tantamount to slavery.
>>
>>60538935
The better question is why are western nations throwing away the privileges of free speech, free discussion and free thought?

Internet censorship isn't really a problem in Sweden, restrictions on speech and harassment and punishment for those who say the wrong thing really is. You're not going to write what you really think on the Internet or talk in public when you know you risk losing your job or having your home broken into or getting arrested if you say something the regime doesn't like.

Internet censorship isn't the main problem in totalitarian countries like Sweden and North Korea. The fact that they arrest journalists and bloggers and normal people for saying something that goes against the regime is a much bigger issue.
>>
>>60540035
Good times bring about a decline in morals, which leads to bad times. The solution is never to have truly good times.
>>
>>60538935
Regulated information means easier censorship for the government which means they can get away with more shit when they have the power to silence people more easily or if they can suppress the information more effectively.
>>
>>60539443
>publicly funded elections

Disgusting. It's bad enough I have to pay these morons a salary and their healthcare and retirement, but paying to fund their election on top of that is unacceptable.

>>60539782
>I'm sure it would be harder to buy.

It wouldn't. If there is no accountability because you were randomly drafted and not elected then that means ZERO accountability you moron.

Why can't you show genitals in Japanese porn?
>>
Because corporations can't be trusted to keep the freedom of people. Stop thinking economic freedom means freedom for anyone except the rich. It's like saying letting slave owners run amok will some how make slaves free.
>>
Anyone, left or right, who is in a position of business or government power, got there because they have a burning ambition to rule over others and bend them to their will. And though these people have widely varying ideologies, the one thing they pretty much all agree on is that controlling the populace requires restricting what people are allowed to say and who they may criticize.

Anyone who really wants a job in elected office or the C-suite should be viewed as unfit for it.
>>
>>60538935
It's not the nations but the (((leaders)))
>>
Because the internet shouldn't be seen as a public utility. The main problem with this whole scenario that people don't seem to understand is that the few internet options that most americans face is a result of govt obstruction to new businesses either as a result of cost or because of contractual agreements disallowing competition within a given region. It then can allow for a monopoly in smaller regions where they may only have 1 telephone utility, which then can choose to set whatever price they want. Then if you want internet you either pay the high price or suffer without. All the while the masses complain about corp greed while never getting mad at the govt for creating the system that made the problem in the first place or trying to change that system so it doesn't perpetuate itself further.
