Intel only improves 2-5% each new iteration these days.

It's a significant upgrade, more than USB 3 is the ability to reduce wire clutter with an M.2 SSD.

sata 3 too actually now that I think about it. i guess i got spoiled when i upgraded my gpu from a 465 to a 970.

some of the reason i want an upgrade is my pc keeps booting me from online games, but i dont actually lose connection. ive tried rolling back recent updates, new cables, new drives, uninstall/reinstall. my laptop works fine on same router modem combo.

I'd do a 6700 non k on an h110 or an r5 1600/b350 before I'd do a new i5 if I couldn't fund an i7. consider just upgrading mobo and cpu to a newer ddr3 build, you can prob resell your stuff and cover a portion of the costs. Wait for coffee and zen+, this round was just the qualifier. Next round of cpus both companies are going to crank up the housefires and come out guns blazing.
