I tried to make a compiler. Its hard as fuck, just give up. I read the dragon book, i watched videos, and I still didnt fully understand it. Your best bet is to learn it at a university, compiler design or something

I made a compiler using llvm for the backend. Was pretty easy when you also use lexer and parser generators. It might not be a very good language, but it is something.

This is a much better way to start then to do something entirely from scratch. For a university class, we used Flex, Bison, and LLVM for exercises.

You're either going to have to read the "dragon" book, or take a compiler course at a university. It is certainly possible to take other routes but the fact that you're asking this question makes it obvious those other possible routes wouldn't work out for you.
