Stable.

It is ok. Red Hat created this for those that need PHP7 or the latest (well, almost) GCC:

I've reformatted kubuntu twice in the past 4 years

CentOS is great for NEETs who want to get an IT job, because it's free, it's easy to use, and it's almost guaranteed that your future employer will want someone with experience of CentOS. Nobody gives a fuck about le Gentoo maymay in the real world, while CentOS is actually useful.

good for servers not desktops
Linux is never good for desktops
>>

It's breddily good. Stable as fuck with everything needed for running 90% of internet servers installed out of the box. Basically the Mac OS of server distros.
>>
A lot of replies are saying it's good for servers because it's stable, but I want to clarify this a bit. What's truly great about RHEL/CentOS is that updates are pretty much guaranteed not to break anything, at least not in such a way that more than a tiny fraction of customers would be affected.

Updates/patches are tested very thoughroughly and packages only receive minor incremental updates and never any breaking changes within the same major OS release.

Security updates are the most important, RHEL/CentOS will be patched before any other major distro. Not only that, but redhat themselves will backport fixes to old but still supported package versions. So say there's a major vulnerability in OpenSSL, of course there were many, well the OpenSSL devs release an update to 1.0.1 or whatever, but RHEL/CentOS 6 machines are still on 0.9.8. Redhat backported the fix themselves.

i am running a dedi server for last 4 years and had literally 0 failures or ever needed to ssh into it to fix something.

shit just works on auto pilot.

CentOS is awesome. It handles all kinds of shit and doesn't tip over
>>
Wasn't release upgrade unsupported?
>>

Kubuntu is unnecessary bloat. Not ideal for servers.
