How will the 6 core i7-8700K be priced compared to the 4 core i7-7700K?

http://www.strawpoll.me/13005662

Will Coffee Lake-S 6 cores be soldered this time around?

http://www.strawpoll.me/13005727
>>

>How will the 6 core
6 core coffee lake doesn't exist. The 8700K will be another 6700K refresh with 100MHz added on.
>>
>>60501044
You're thinking of the i7-7740K which is on Intel's new HEDT platform.
>>
>>60501073
That exists as well, but 6 core coffee lake was made up by wccftech. The 8000 series is just more refreshes with no new silicon.
>>
>>60501215
>6 core coffee lake was made up by wccftech

Yup, they just made it up. Not like you can't still find the leaked benchmark or anything.

Multiple sites reported on it.

They added 200mhz last time from 4.0 to 4.2 for the consumer series.

The xeons went up 200mhz and dropped 8 watts while doing so.
3.9ghz 72w from 3.7ghz 80w

Coffeelake should consume less watts per core at even higher frequency.
>>
>>60500993
Who gives a shit about anything less than 8 cores nowadays? Ryzen 8 core is the same price as Intel 4 core. Intel needs to drop the price of their processors.
>>
>>60501342
amd sucks tho
>>
>>60501342
Higher clocks, 4133 CL17 1T ram, higher IPC with 6 cores is even better than 8 cores with 3520 CL16 1T ram.

Yeah fuck off kike

Not even 5%, performance improvements are 2-3%
>>
>>60501664
You can buy low priced b-die ram and get 4000+

Try me bitch. 2400Mhz 2x16GB DDR4 for $90. Good luck getting even close to that size+price at 4000Mhz.
>>
>>60500993
More than $50

very biased poll

NEVER underestimate the fucking jew.
>>
>>60501951
>>60502034
I apologize, I didn't account for a supposed ULTRAJEW option that would make even Intel look like a bunch of money grubbing idiots.
>>
>>60501871
Aren't you guys buying 3200 CL14 for the X370 builds?
>>
>>60502199
>3200 CL14
For what purpose?
>>
sorry, I've been living under a rock since Kaby launch, are 170 series still relevant for Coffee?
>>
>>60502580
Backwards compatibility is not known at this point. Most people are guessing it won't be.
>>
>>60502656
any particular reasons why not? is it some sort of bandwidth issue?
>>
>>60502580
>>60502656
Some features won't work ( the built in wifi ).
>>
>>60502915
but technically will it be able to give me at least a non-blank screen if I plug it in my z170?
>>
>>60502945
Wait for August
>>
>>60502703
>any particular reasons why not? is it some sort of bandwidth issue?
It's some sort of Intel issue, more like it.
>>
>>60503116
then still no rumours it seems, tough luck...
>>
>>60502703
Intel just being jews. Nothing new.
>>
>>60503133
such a strong issue that any mobo supplier wouldnt find a workaround thru a bios update?
>>
>>60503166
honestly, I was surprised they let Kaby run on 170 series, though it was just binned Sky
>>
>>60503211
only some kabys will runs on some Z170's
I have one of them
Gigabyte and asus z170's on the high end do support kabylake but you need to have a skylake processor first because the Bios needs to be updated BTW you may brick the mobo so just be warned.

Asus are terriable for bios bricking on update of a mobo.
>>
>>60503360
know all that, I have been bricking things since last millennium, particularly routers :)
>>
>>60500993
Who the fuck would buy a CPU today without hyperthreading, unless it already has AT LEAST 8 cores?
>>
>>60504388
I dunno, lol. Fanboys?
>>
>>60504466
Yeah, I suppose.

But, even so, single-threaded is fucking stupid.

You can like Intel (I do), but not be a moron at the same time.

There's valid reasons to like Intel: the CPUs have more cores (except this shit); they run cooler, too.

I'd personally get Xeons.

But, you can also differentiate that THIS CPU is retarded. It's like those short-lived Tri-Core processors, where they deactivated 1 die. Tri-Core, hyperthreaded vs Hexa-Core, mono-threaded.
It's stupid. Worse than a Quad-Core, hyper.

Actually, AMD's LACK of Hyperthreading is one of the reasons I DON'T want to use their CPUs. (Also, b/c they run like 10-15° hotter)

Similar to why I plan to get AMD GPUs as opposed to NVidia when I get a desktop. NVidia has limited outputs and lower VRAM.

Best NVidia I saw was a Tesla K80 with 24GB, GDDR5. Best AMD I saw was FirePro W9100 with 32GB, GDDR5.
Tesla had no outputs; it was for Machine Learning. FirePro had SIX identical outputs. It's for whatever, including Display Walls.

Brand loyalty is retarded. You take what works best for the job.
>>
>>60504656
Wait what? Did you just completely miss the launch of Ryzen or what? It has SMT. It has more cores. It runs cooler. The only thing it loses at is single threaded performance.
>>
>>60504873
Yes, actually.

This looks interesting. Checking it out.
32 threads ain't bad. Best I saw from Intel was 36 threads with the E5-2699.

Gonna take a look, tho
>>
>>60505088
The best price/performance Ryzen right now is 1600 if you want 6 cores or 1700 if you want 8 cores. The 16 core CPU isn't out yet.
>>
>>60504656
ryzen is on par with broadwell E in many workstation tasks and the 1700 is a fucking steal considering you can OC it to the 1800x half the time.
>>
talking out of my ass.

I wonder if Intel is worried and if they are sitting on a box of upgrades they can whip out for the next rotation.

If they want to pretend AMD isnt worrying them, then we might see Intel release their products super expensive as usual, profiting off of name recognition and reliability.

then in a year or 2 when newer cpus come out, they will phase out pentiums and i3s and simply keep the price brackets. i5s will be the new i3. i7 will be the new i5, i9 will be the new i7.
>>
>>60507472
They would be waving around 10nm on desktop/server CPUs like a crazed maniac if they actually had it. Ditto for a new architecture, which we know for sure won't be ready until at least 2020.
>>
>>60507671
i view intel as slow and steady predictable profits.

if they dont have the ability to respond in their next few cpu cycles, they are going to give up market share and wasted a dominant led.
