Are gaming chairs worth it /g/?
>>
>>60492372
IF you sit for more than 4 hours a day, a really good chair is worth it... and nothing labelled "gaming" is ever "really good"
>>
>>60492389
pretty much all computer chairs are trash because you have to sit at a desk. Ideally something like a lounge would be better.

For what it's worth, you want something adjustable both up and down, forward and back, and tilt for the base as well as for the back rest. Also good arm rests
>>
>>60492389
>and nothing labelled "gaming" is ever "really good"

That's not true though
>>
Never
They're built for looks and not comfort
Use the same money and buy a nice executive chair
>>
>>60492389
That's a dumb assumption.
That means that whatever an engineering team did, once the marketing team puts the label "gaming" on it during release, it magically becomes a bad product?
>>
>>60492372
I got the same chair, it's very comfortable, neck pillow gets annoying after a while but the lumbar one is nice.

I sit in it for hours without getting a sore ass, etc.

Also being able to lean back is really comfortable for sitting at my pc watching movies etc.
>>
Get a Herman Miller if you're looking to drop cash on a chair. Super comfy and you won't look like a literal fucking autist.
>>
>>60493210
That label means they used nikos on motherboards.

I sit 8 hours a day on a micke chair. Its pretty creased and not soft anymore but its still decent. Id suggest getting a herman miller chair, theyre actually pretty good but they break after their warranty runs out almost immediately
>>
>>60495480
where do i get it?
>>
>>60492372
I got myself an AKRACING Premium Gaming v2 chain because it's comfy as fuck. I don't care about gamer bullshit, but the chair is totally legit.
>>
>>60492372
>styled after car racing seats with none of the ergonomic benefits
At least get one made by a company that actually makes car racing seats.
http://www.racechairs.com/Recaro_Sportster_CS_p/rec002.htm

I have Recaro seats in my car. Worth every penny.
>>
>>60493210

If you buy those seats separately for your car, they're $1500 each. Before brackets to mount them in.

I'm actually in the market for a new chair. I use my computer a stupid number of hours per day. Every cheap Staples chair I've gotten has had issues with the pleather peeling and with the hydraulics.

What's the /g/ approved "lasts forever, comfy for 14 hour sessions" chair?

Yes they are
>>
>>60492372
If all you want to do is lean back and relax then they're decent. There's a lot of shitty brands though, you need to be careful about which one you buy.

If you care about ergonomics and posture then gaming chairs are among the worst ones you can buy. They provide no lumbar support at all, forcing you to have a slouched position. The "back cushion" they provide is a joke and feels horrible to use.

buy a decent ergonomically sound office chair worth NOT LESS than 500 dollars

if its designed for an overweight white collar worker to sit in for 8 to 10 hours without damaging the spine then its designed for person to play games for entirely too long

No expensive chair is worth it. I sit on an $800 Steelcase at work. It's shit, and hurts my back even when I follow the instructions and adjust the lumbar and sit properly with my feet flat on the floor.

Executive chairs are better. Can actually lean back in those without suffering lower back pain.

So mount actual Recaro Seats to an Ikea chare base? I may have to consider this at some point. Nothing beats Recaro seats in cars.... unless you're fat. The contouring is NOT built for heavy people

well fat people in general need specialized seating. Get there most expensive chair in the non leather variant. The base is pretty good.

also, ikea is good for only a few things, the other being genero kitchen carcasses, and put your own hardware, bench top and faces into it

Car seats shit all over chairs. I mounted an clean used passenger seat from a u-pull-it to an old power recliner base and life is good. No pics because it's not beautiful but it works great.

>gaming chairs
I've looked at a few. At 6'4 I find them all uncomfortable and completely unusable. They are either made for children (who are the main target for this "gaming" fad) or manlets.

There's a huge variety of "office" chairs and those are generally much more comfortable.

>>60497196
This. Office chair are a much better choice.

Honestly, the only reason I can find for buying a "gaming" chair is that your nephew or niece really wants one. But even then it's probably better to explain to them that money doesn't grow on trees and flushing it down the toilet just because you've seen some advertisements is a stupid idea.

On an interesting side-note, I have noticed that all the female "gamers" on Twitch have neat gaming-chairs. I'm not sure why you would need one if you're going to show a thumbnail of a game in the lower left corner and dance in front of a camera but they all seem to have some fancy gaming chair. I have the impression they are sponsored but I'm not sure.
>>
>>60497705

yeah I can't believe they sell jerseys for that "hockey" fad, I've heard they've even gone and built stadiums!

It's clearly a fad for stupid people.

Please show me a single product labelled "gaming" that's actually better for gaming than a similar product that's not.

Gaming mice are overpriced crap compared to professional mice.

Mechanical keyboards and IBM spring keboards from the 80s are better than "gaming" keyboards.

"Gaming headsets" have so poor audio quality that listening to music in unbearable. Of all the fad "gaming" garbage these are probably the worst, $100-200 "gaming headsets" with worse audio quality than $20 headsets from chink express. What a scam.

>On an interesting side-note, I have noticed that all the female "gamers" on Twitch have neat gaming-chairs. I'm not sure why you would need one
I noticed Aphmau has one, but in her case, I think I can excuse it. She's like 4'10 so I can imagine finding a comfy computer chair is a pain in the ass.
>>
>>60492429
It's a red flag though. "Gaming" usually means low end shit with cringy colors to justify a price premium.
>>
>>60497516
>well fat people in general need specialized seating
I don't mean the seat can't handle it. I mean the side bolsters on Recaro seats are made from really stiff foam to keep you from moving side to side when taking corners fast. They grab your sides right by the kidneys. Comfy though.

Tell me what should be functionally different with a chair for gaming, vs one for work? The chair should ergonomically support you regardless, and ideally last many years. "Gaming" chairs are just cheapo seats that looks like they're from a race car, upholstered with flashy colors that appeal to 10yrs olds, and man children who would drive their Economy "sporty" Coupe with one hand on top of the steering wheel.

Be skeptical of things pretending to be something expensive, using flashy features and aesthetics. The quality made products, are often ones that aren't loudly marketed.

My Econobox came factory with racing seats. pic related.
>itsasaturn.jpg
Gaming chairs try to emulate the look of racing seats, but don't pull it off. Actual race seats are nowhere near as flashy as the Gaming chairs, and are a lot comfier. Some race seat companies, like Recaro as mentioned previously ITT, actually make office chairs as well using their car seats. By far those are going to be the comfiest computer chair you can get.
>>
>>60492372
>not putting together a car seat and office chair base
>>
>>60492372
I bought one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUMVJ6UWtfA

I find it quite good. The only major problem is that the seat has shit cushioning. I added a $5 seat cushion from Walmart, and that solved the problem.

The real question, though, is: Why do you need it?

For me, I SLEEP in it. I use my bed less than half the time, now.
I also USE my computer over TEN hours a day, not counting time I sleep at it, listening to ASMR or some shit.

As such, I NEEDED a good chair.

But, if you just want a chair to use to WORK AT your computer ONLY, then don't bother.
