>>60490004
Same devs? I think my Win3.1 version had EGA or VGA color support, but the UI is pretty much identical.
>>60489713
How did you manage to do this, fellow /g/entooman?
>>60490019
Same devs? No, the people behind Macpaint (besides apple computers) were Claris and they mostly just did apple related stuff.
But yeah the computer painting UI became pretty much universal very fast based on Susan Kare's artwork. There could have been someone before her but as far as I know she was the earliest I can find.
Here is a short documentary.

Valid point, but gentoo users aren't compiling out features to get that sweet 5kb more buffer cache. They do it out of a deranged "worse is better" mentality.

>>60504459
not him but he clearly said you can make packages if so you wish
I find it harder to compile a package in a distro like Ubuntu than writing a "spell" to automate all the operation in sourcemage
>>60489713
Are you poor?
>>60504510
The point is more that on a mainstream distribution you wouldn't have to do any of that in the first place, because the developer community has already done it for you.
"Make it yourself" is the weakest fucking shill cop-out on /g/, it's not how you convince someone to switch from something that works great for them to something that won't.
>>60505996
I don't think is that exact same case of "make it yourself" happening with sourcemage because it does have a many packages and I get that if you want to use a source based distro and already know a little bit of compiling is trivial to add a new package.
For package quantity there is debian and ubuntu family of course, but that is not all we want here. When you want exotic packages or stuff not in the repository the story is different.
I guess the confusion is whether you want package quantity, bleeding edge software, minimal footprint, etc. It really isn't all the same.
