what is the difference between an array and an arraylist?
>>60486652
Yes, there's no reason to use a linked list unless you really really need extremely fast addition.
>>60488146
You cant extend the size of an array.
>>60488146
dynamic sizing

ArrayList is just a wrapper around a native array. It is not like a linked list with dynamically allocated nodes of storage. The ArrayList has logic such that when the ubderlying native array reaches a certain fullness, it creates a new, bigger array and copies the old data over.

use linked lists only if you're doing a lot of random inserts, and even then if your performance profiling tells you that it really does work better
