You don't know what heat is. I am a Georgian living in Turkey. I am used to -30-35 degrees winters and at top 15-20 degrees summers in windy Caucasian mountains but now I have to live with 0-5 degrees winters and nearly 35-40 degrees summer temps every goddamn year.

I was commenting more on how there's this phenomenon of "Tract Housing" in the US, where developers will buy up a ton of land and just put tons of copies of the same house on it. In my opinion, it's industrial and depressing.
The city here basically a bunch of those housing developments connected by highways, with chain stores (McDonalds, etc) lining those highways.
It really does a good job of making you feel isolated in a city with 200k people.
Back home my city was built 100 years ago and is much more natural.

It's not efficiency, but performance.
AC needs enough kW performance to perform adequately. If your house already has the pipes and stuff, you could simply replace it with a properly sized unit.

Also, modern AC uses inverter so it only eats as much power as needed. We always oversize our systems, because ambient temp keeps going up each year.
(Systems were designed for 35C outside temp, now we design with 45).
