How the fuck is copyright infringement piracy? I don't even like boats.
>>
I've talked to a head of a loss prevention department before, and actually the most common thieves are old ladies.

Usually they're just entitled, bored, and think they can get away with it. They go into stores with empty Advil bottles and top them off with another bottle off the shelf, and they pocket all kinds of other small shit.

When they're caught, they usually don't press charges unless it's a repeat offender.
>>
Not technically stolen, but i did some work in a (later known) shady NGO, they paid me in advance to start the work (just set up a shitty router with two computers) but it barely covered the material costs (router, computer, monitor, cables), the fuckers told me the rest was delayed because some tax shit (their problem not mine) but 2 months and like 30 calls/mails passed by and no sign of the money (it was like 1k, not enough to worth for a lawyer), so the other day i told them i was doing them a support patch for the ransomware virus (lies) and replaced the two computers parts (B250, G4560 and 8GB) with some old core2duo i got in for spare parts because the ungrateful fucks never paid me.

>>60469000
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as piracy, is in fact, unauthorized copying, or as I've recently taken to calling it, unauthorized sharing. Piracy is not the act of obtaining an unauthorized copy of a copyrighted work, but rather robbery or criminal violence at sea.
Many computer users make unauthorized copies every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the act which is widely performed today is often called piracy, and many of the people who do it are not aware that it is basically copying, and not stealing.
There really is a piracy, and some people are doing it, but it is just robbery at sea. Piracy is an act of theft: an action at sea in which goods are forcefully transferred from one ship to another. Piracy is important to be aware of, but unrelated to unauthorized copying; it can only function at sea. Piracy is normally not used in combination with unauthorized copying: the two acts are basically seperate. All the so-called piracy is really unauthorized copying.

i've stolen once.
i must be autistic because:
>my car's check engine light has turned back on for the 100th time.
>spend all day friday, all day saturday, all day sunday finding the air leak
>sunday night i finally figure out where the leak is coming from
>o-ring on a certain device has failed
>i drive to 3 different auto parts shops
>none of them have the specific o-ring that i need
>on the 3rd shop, i get so frustrated that i open a box up and take an o-ring
>the second we drive out (my brother driving me around because my car is not working properly) i hear sirens (we live in the hood)
>i see cops
>about to have a heart attack
>drive another mile
>see more cops with their sirens on (again, we live in the hood)
>heart is pounding. thinking we will be stopped by the cops and im going to jail
>literally 1/2 mile away my place
>i get so scared that i chunk the o-ring out of the window
>i go home and just use the o-rings that i already bought at the first store
>they were too thin so i just doubled up
>it worked
literally for the next month i thought every single siren was a cop coming after me
every single helicopter was swat waiting for the raid that they were about to do
i was 25.
i either have retardism
or
i am autistic.
>>
>>60476214
Man I watch livepd and it's unbelievable how much the police fuck with people in the hood. I mean they always get caught with weed which is bullshit, but as a middle class white person who doesn't even live somewhere that even has a hood, cops don't mess with anyone. Like you see people pulled over for spreading, but I have never once seen anyone "detained" in cuffs while getting their car searched. On livepd every 5 minutes there's a black guy in cuffs getting his car searched.
>>
No, but I've stolen tons of shit from work. Minor shit like cables, RAM sticks, hard drives, but also a monitor and a computer tower. The trick is to put it away and see if anyone notices it's gone, then after a month or two you finally take it home.

Who the fuck does this to steal cashews? That's hilarious.

As to OPs question I'll steal literally anything I can if it's at a corporate store. I feel no compunction not to as they are pretty much all varying degrees of evil. I'd never steal from an individual though. I didn't start doing it until later in life and apparently I'm fucking good at it because I've been stealing from every store I enter for years and have never been caught.

Years ago I owned a computer store, and this woman would come in and sell any hard drive for $50. She'd take orders, then a week later show up with them all. Turned out she was taking photos of the boxes/serial at a retail store, then cross ship RMA'ing them on a prepaid Visa with $10 on it.

>>
>>60479775

Cashews are delicious.

>>60479802

You name it I've probably taken it at some point. Booze, food, games, controllers, varied electronics, hardware, tools, cleaning supplies. I literally do it every time I go to a big store. Stealing from them is so ridiculously easy if you aren't going for large quantities.
>>
>>60480125
How do you do it? There are fucking cameras everywhere. You might also need a bag for the bigger items.
I still won't take anything worth more then like $5-10 because fuck going to jail.
>>
>>60475632
>I was merely pretending
>>
I have never really stolen anything, except the usual candy or some shit as a kid, which you felt guilty for.

Pirating movies and games, well thats a different story... But never physical goods.

I have had several part time jobs in retail, so I know the in's and out's of most stores so I could easily steal if I wanted to.

I get that some here say "fuck the big companies! just steal their shit!", but come on:
1: You arent making a difference. At all. Just stick it to the man all you want, it wont make a difference.
2: You ARE making a difference to the poor store clerk who are working at minimum wage and have to deal with dickheads like you because you think you are some kind of Guy Fawkes with your fedora, stealing whatever you can stuff in your pocket.

Stop being a dick.
>>
>>60480176

I take it off the shelf and put it in my cart then go to an area with no one around and put it in my inside coat pockets. If it's packaged with the security tag I take it in the bathroom and cut it out with a pocket knife. I never steal anything bigger than what will fit in my very large coat pockets. There is very rarely someone even watching the cameras at those stores and the loss prevention people are very rarely there at night as well.
>>
>>60480278

The clerks don't get in trouble at all. It's the loss prevention officer and the store manager who are held accountable for it. I don't do it out of some grand sense of social justice either. I want the things they have and don't wish to pay for them. I don't feel bad taking the stuff as they are awful companies who are outright evil. I'm not deluded enough to pretend I'm doing it for anyone but me.
>>
>>60480312
I see. Sadly I live in FL and no one wears coats, I would have probably done that.

>>60480370

Cargo shorts or cargo pants work too you just have to be a little more careful about the size and shape of the objects. Biggest thing is not getting nervous. I've noticed that any time someone gets caught stealing anywhere its because they were acting weird or nervous. I walk in and out calm as a Hindu cow and haven't ever even been so much as questioned.
>>
>>60480465
Yea, good idea. Although that will indeed be an issue, items would have to be small.
I could also modify a hoodie and make some type of large pocket in the inside, I think that would work well.

I will probably not get nervous, unless I am literally confronted and am told that I was seen on camera. I think actually buying something helps a lot also.

I used to work retail, rich people are the worst when it comes to being kleptomaniacs.
A rich lady once hid a 5kg bag of potatoes under her coat and the cashier couldn't hold herself from laughing when she was trying to pay for other shit.
Some guy stole a bunch of fishing rods and managed to get to the parking lot before being stopped. Shit, even my coworkers stole clothes all the time and wore them under their uniforms.
There was only one guy watching all the cameras for a walmart sized surface, they only ever caught people cause they were either retards or cause the guards that patrol the place caught them red handed. Not like management cared anyways, they made so much profit they were swimming in gold like uncle scrooge.

I used to work retail at Office Depot in the late 90s early 2000s. Some notable incidents:

>guy stole software every time he came into the store
>we knew he was doing it but we could never catch him in the act
>store had a very strict policy about confronting shop lifters anyway and if you didn't see them hide it on their person and follow them for every second until the left the store you couldn't do shit
>guy started getting so bold that he would bring empty software packages to store employees and say "hey this is empty someone stole it"

one time a guy destroyed a urinal In the bathroom creating a diversion while his wife stole 45 DVDs like 10 feet from me. I actually got blamed and they thought I was in on it.

>group of gypsies come into the store
>they start asking all employees for help and taking them across the store
>one guy approaches me and in very bad English and motions makes me think he wants video game controllers
>I take him over there and he starts acting very very panicky and weird
>some white kids are like hey man where are the DVD burners (they're in the same aisle)
>i point over at the glass case and notice they're all gone
>I just stocked them that morning
>DVD burners are like $400 each then
>white dude goes "yeah man, where ARE they"
>immediately know what's happened
>run to get huge black manager former Alabama running back to get ready for battle
>BRO GYPSIES ARE STEALING THE BURNERS!
>just in time to see the last one run out of the store
>they moved all employees around the store
>picked the lock on the case
>put the burners into giant bags of packing peanuts we sold
>paid for the peanuts and walked out before we caught on.

You're doing it wrong, what you need to do is sneak into the line when it's busy and then just take someone else's food. People do it all the time at my McDonald's, we have technical measures to stop it(you can put a "SKIP CAR" on the order screen), but if first window doesn't notice you or doesn't know how the food is yours. I build half my PC from stealing shit. This was like the mid-late 90's, so i would steal all in wonders, tv tuner cards, sound cards, $300 CD burners that were not locked away.

In the winter time I stole an entire scanner. Shoved it down my back in my puffy coat.

Another time I forgot the driver disc, so I came back like 2 hours later, found the opened box, took the CD out, and went back home.

I never bought anything either.

Sometimes I stole games, but I had a shitty old Pentium MMX PC, so I couldn't play anything modern. Even with a Rage card.

There was one security gaurd at the door, I knew him by name. I would talk to him sometimes on my way out, or at least wave. I felt sorry for him because he probably got shit on for not doing his job.

One other time a friend of mine was visiting, and we went in, I wanted to show him how easy it was. I stole what was labeled as a NEC branded 72x optical drive. Turned out to be a SCSI interference. Normally i ride my bike, but he didn't have one so we took the bus back hiding a massive CD-ROM drive in my coat.

I did this for two summers. My friends had better PC's than me, so if they wanted a decent video card I would go in and steal one. Probably took 5, or 7 total. Eventually they started locking everything up. Pretty sure I caused 90% of their shrinkage.

I got semi caught at a Target for stealing those Energizer lithium batteries, that scared me good to never be able to steal again. I became too paranoid.

Now I just report missing shipments from Amazon every now and then, and only because the Amazon delivery niggers toss expensive as shit components over the fence in the rain, or leave it at my neighbor's door who don't give it back for days.

You think I could get away with ordering 3 Samsung solid state drives and reporting them stolen? What do they? Send you more? Or give you a refund? I order very often and have never done it before
>>
>>60484685
They talk with the delivery company and figure out how it was delivered.

You can send an email 2 days after the delivery saying "where is my shit?" And play dumb.

I had just recently bought an item from IKEA that was left at my neighbor who kept it for 2 days, I already reported it stolen, and they just sent me an email that they will send out a replacement. I asked for signature confirmation. They usually don't bother.

I bought 2x 2tb external HDs from Newegg's eBay store, reported them missing because the piece of shit UPS cunt left them outside in the rain. Now I have 4x external HDs.

Damn I wanna try it and get some free ssds but I'm too much of a goodie goodie. Plus I don't want to get in trouble. I guess I'll just have spend my money like I usually do.

I legitimately had shit stolen. Specifically car parts. Another time an item was delivered to a South instead of North. Dude was nice to eventually give me my package, but it was like a week later, and I already had it replaced. It was just light bulbs, nothing fancy.

Helps to live in an urban area.
Obviously won't work if you're on a first name basis with your mailman, or sign for it, or answer the door when they knock.

No, it'd be impossible anyway since everything is behind 3 locks and all the phones on display are either fake or glued to a desk, the only thing i could shoplift is a TV, but i don't think i have the skills needed for that.

The only thing i've stolen is food, there was this one tree full of delicious looking apples and i took them all, i was like 10 years old and i fell from the tree several times while doing it but it was worth it, i have no idea how i didn't manage to break my legs.

I wish I could tell Amazon my delivery never came, I really need a GPU now.

Bought a 30$ protection plan for an i7 4770 since it wasn't in inventory at my old retail job, does that count as a steal?
>>
>>60486913
fuck that's a good idea
>>
>>60484685
You probably could once, but if you do it more than once or twice they'll probably flag you and require signature/ID for pickup.
It's just because you'd be a statistical outlier if you have a fuckton of shipments "stolen".
>>
>>60487189
I think he means order three, and claim that the single box got stolen.
>>
>>60487077
Of all the shit to steal, why would you choose to steal from an educational institution, which (if you're in the US) is likely underfunded already.
>>
>>60487222
I mean if you only get one or two shots, it makes sense to bundle as much as you can in a single shipment.
No point in blowing your chance on a single $100 SSD.
>>
>>60487232
Do you think a student would think about shit like that in middle/high school? My friend did it a bunch of time, they didnt even lock those PCs.
>>
my best friend when i was growing up was an Armenian, and i was impressed by the volume of shit he'd steal. every day when we'd walk home from school, we'd stop at the drug store, and while i'd take just a candy bar or whatever, he'd go up to the ice cream counter, ask for a waffle cone and two scoops, and walk right out with it.

our biggest heist though was going into a KB Toys, and each of us took three McFarlane Spawn toys, which we had to hold in both hands that went from our chests to right below our chins, and simply walked out with them.

anyway i never stole shit past being a kid.
>>
Just ended up ordering one

I've bought so much shit from Amazon they will think it was legitly stolen

The poster just said "fuck that's a good idea" like he's going to do it in typing class on Monday.

To be fair, there should be a camera (no audio) in the computer lab.

Stuff does get fucked up sometimes, last November my grandma got a box that was clearly intended to be Christmas gifts for another family. She called Amazon and they said to keep it and they would send another to the original family.
