I've talked to a head of a loss prevention department before, and actually the most common thieves are old ladies.

Usually they're just entitled, bored, and think they can get away with it. They go into stores with empty Advil bottles and top them off with another bottle off the shelf, and they pocket all kinds of other small shit.

When they're caught, they usually don't press charges unless it's a repeat offender.

Not technically stolen, but i did some work in a (later known) shady NGO, they paid me in advance to start the work (just set up a shitty router with two computers) but it barely covered the material costs (router, computer, monitor, cables), the fuckers told me the rest was delayed because some tax shit (their problem not mine) but 2 months and like 30 calls/mails passed by and no sign of the money (it was like 1k, not enough to worth for a lawyer), so the other day i told them i was doing them a support patch for the ransomware virus (lies) and replaced the two computers parts (B250, G4560 and 8GB) with some old core2duo i got in for spare parts because the ungrateful fucks never paid me.

I take it off the shelf and put it in my cart then go to an area with no one around and put it in my inside coat pockets. If it's packaged with the security tag I take it in the bathroom and cut it out with a pocket knife. I never steal anything bigger than what will fit in my very large coat pockets. I have one of those Harman 2.1 speaker setups for my computer. I stole an extra little plastic foot for it from frys electronics because I lost mine and it occured to me as I was walking through the store.

Back in my day I used to steal a ton of shit from MicroCenter. They had no security, and shit cameras. I gave no fucks, I would leave opened boxes everywhere, and absolutely not give a fuck.

I build half my PC from stealing shit. This was like the mid-late 90's, so i would steal all in wonders, tv tuner cards, sound cards, $300 CD burners that were not locked away.

In the winter time I stole an entire scanner. Shoved it down my back in my puffy coat.

Another time I forgot the driver disc, so I came back like 2 hours later, found the opened box, took the CD out, and went back home.

I never bought anything either.

Sometimes I stole games, but I had a shitty old Pentium MMX PC, so I couldn't play anything modern. Even with a Rage card.

There was one security gaurd at the door, I knew him by name. I would talk to him sometimes on my way out, or at least wave. I felt sorry for him because he probably got shit on for not doing his job.

One other time a friend of mine was visiting, and we went in, I wanted to show him how easy it was. I stole what was labeled as a NEC branded 72x optical drive. Turned out to be a SCSI interference. Normally i ride my bike, but he didn't have one so we took the bus back hiding a massive CD-ROM drive in my coat.

I did this for two summers. My friends had better PC's than me, so if they wanted a decent video card I would go in and steal one. Probably took 5, or 7 total. Eventually they started locking everything up. Pretty sure I caused 90% of their shrinkage.

I got semi caught at a Target for stealing those Energizer lithium batteries, that scared me good to never be able to steal again. I became too paranoid.


Now I just report missing shipments from Amazon every now and then, and only because the Amazon delivery niggers toss expensive as shit components over the fence in the rain, or leave it at my neighbor's door who don't give it back for days.

my best friend when i was growing up was an Armenian, and i was impressed by the volume of shit he'd steal. every day when we'd walk home from school, we'd stop at the drug store, and while i'd take just a candy bar or whatever, he'd go up to the ice cream counter, ask for a waffle cone and two scoops, and walk right out with it.

our biggest heist though was going into a KB Toys, and each of us took three McFarlane Spawn toys, which we had to hold in both hands that went from our chests to right below our chins, and simply walked out with them.

anyway i never stole shit past being a kid.
