I don't care for anime, but I can give Clojure advice since I used it for my startup and completed a rewrite coming from ASP.NET.

For your stock webdev stuff, a custom framework is best. We used Ring, Compojure, Hiccup, Buddy, HTTP-Kit, Cheshire, and others. Slapped em all together, since they're all passing easy data to each other.

Build the "functional pyramid" from the request down. So the request dispatch is like your "main" function, and the response, including the page HTML or other shit, is put together like other functional programs building functionality from the inputs on the main function.

The only non-functional code you should need is for REPL and the server. So you'll need an atom to store the HTTP-Kit instance (example on their site), and REPL functions should be built as needed.

For database access, you don't necessarily need a library like Korma. We did database queries with plaintext jdbc, and the interface was simple functions. Put in a person to get-people-by-birthdate, get them back as maps sorted by birthdate, for example. If you want to check for consistency, custom checking functions should do the tricks, and log errors if they don't come back properly. Always use transactions for updates and storage, as is standard practice.

If you really want to be a functional tryhard, go for an event sourcing database, like Datomic or the other event sourcing DBs that have popped up over time.
