What is the purpose of VPN's other than going on a gaming server and connecting to the country of the server your VPN is hosting you in?

If you download more than one movie per month, it doesn't defeat the purpose.
Also piracy isn't just about nomonies, pic related.

My VPN is $40/year. Amazon Prime is $100 and Netflix even more than that. Try again

The point is that both require money, the difference is that one is a service and the other hides your up and downloads.

If I rent or buy a movie on Amazon Video, it has even less steps than the "pirate" option. I don't even have to wait for it to download or insert a DVD, it just starts instantly, and I can do it all from my PCs, TV, tablet and even phone, the latter two when I'm away from home.

Maybe the objective in pirating, as with any other endeavor, is to minimize costs, but keep in mind even pirates of the seas had to pay for and maintain a ship, a crew, weapons, food, etc. Think of the VPN subscriptions as a maintenance cost for ur "pirate ship"
>>

You still save money if you actually use it. If you want truly free anonymity for piracy you'll need to hack yourself up a nice botnet to proxy your downloads through. Money or Effort is required for effectiveness, nothing is free

My VPN is $3 a month. Yes, you are getting ripped off at $50, enjoy, learn to shop.
>>
>>60463890

Amazon (streaming) are only renting the product, so are you. What about when they loose that license, you can't watch it anymore. With my dogshit internet attempting to randomly seek in a movie of true 720p+ quality will still result in waiting a minute or more. There's still a long process to starting a movie, go to site, log in, find the fucker, open and play. Almost no difference to a torrent.

So your argument is 'GIMME IT NOW' vs 'I want to watch this soonâ„¢', in that aspect streaming is better, there is no 30min - 1hr wait for it to download (depending on seeds). Personally having the media file will eternally trump shitty streaming, in the case of the media no longer being offered or connection loss I still have it to view.
>>
>>60464237

VPN is a choice, there's no need for one if you don't want it. Most people do it as an additional bit of plausible deniability. Could also use a seed box (but shock, that also costs money), it depends on if you think 'helping' the swarm is a noble cause or enjoy the private tracker scene.

Not everyone has a job where you wind up with a disposable income large enough for 20+ movies a month ($20+ per ticket, double that for food because cinemas food prices are extortion, BDs can range from $40 for new releases to $4 for old shit). And that doesn't account for an other disposable activities (fun). I certainly couldn't afford my basic upkeep (bills, food, fuel etc) + fun + 'legal' media.

Why do I ignore streaming? Because I don't KEEP the material, since my goal is offline storage the main option is expensive BD collecting which far out prices having a sub to every streaming service.
>>
>>60466276
I like seed box.cc

>>60468305

And you actually can access it if the site goes down or your internet is out. Its unbelievable to me that people think streaming is even the same thing as downloading.

No it isn't. People pirate things for one of two reasons:

>without money involved

Yeah, but then I started getting put through my ISP's "6 step anti-piracy" program where they suspend my service over and over and force me to call them to get it reactivated each time so that they can read their anti-pirating propaganda to me over the phone. I just didn't want to deal with that crap anymore, so now I pay $40 a year for a proxy. That's only a tiny amount in comparison to what I pay for ISP service, so I really don't give a fuck about that extra $40 per year. Look at it this way: I'm helping to promote the health of the companies that provide privacy and anonymity over the internet, and that's not a bad thing.

Illegal way:
>pay 3-10/month for VPN or Seedbox

>download file and watch it where and whenever you want, run a PLEX server or similar to stream to any device you wish

I dunno, I might be a retard but I just use gomovies*to and watch them from there
If I want to watch animated stuff I just go to kissanime or kimcartoon

I only ever download movies that I really, really like.

All my music I get through Youtube via Videoder

I pirate absolutely nothing else, no software, no torrenting, I'm more of a scavenger than a pirate desu

My ISP is metronet

And I do all of this on my phone.

On a scale from 1 to 10 how buttfucked am I?

Only a burger would say that. While in other parts of the world say... Yurop, you receive free texts and calls on prepaid mobile sim cards if you're the recipient or someone's calling you. Even if you have no money on your sim. Or how about the 100's of television channels that are free on satelites such as Astra (check lyngsat.com) where if you already have a box and dish, you pay nothing else because the satelite operator already recieves their income from the television channels that pay the satelite to broadcast them, who get their revenue from advertisers to have their conmercials broadcasted on those channels. But keep going on about living in the land of the free.
