there was some livecd with a password removal tool. started with an h. sounded japanese. hiruken or something.

Yeah, that was it. I have successfully used that on Windows 7 before. A friend told me his mom changed his user password to keep him off the computer. I came over, removed the pass, and I think also made him an admin with the CD.
