Gets the job done.

It's usually connected to a 3m HDMI cable which is hooked up to a big TV on a desk in front of me (off camera), which I'll watch fillums and play vidya on. The wooden tray smoothly slides out the way onto my bed (mechanical keyboard to rest on lap). Armchair is comfy as fuck.

I understand what you guys mean when you call it boring and plain, but to be completely honest I'm really not about the idea of a cluttered desk/ having unnecessary/ not immediately needed things on my desk. Most of the time my desk is covered in shipping supplies, envelopes, stamps and letters since it's my job sending out large amounts of mail.

And the times it's not, I just prefer a nice clear desk with only the essentials. Also I'm considering upgrading to a two monitor set up, just not sure yet which direction to have the second monitor going, since I want to keep this one centered.

Got a FiiO E10K and a stand for my X2, decided to try out another Artisan pad (which I'm loving), a custom mat for my side desk and did some general organizing. It's a large Hien Mid. I had a XL Cooler Master Swift-RX before that, and while it was great, it was pretty different from my favorite mousepad, which was the Destructor 2. I also have an Artisan Shidenkai Mid, and while it was fairly nice, it has absolutely terrible durability. The glass coating was wearing off in a week, and cleaning it is a pain, plus the white version gets dirty really fast. The Hien Mid feels a lot similar to a hard pad in glide, but it still has a bit of control, is quite comfortable and seems very durable. It might be my new favorite pad. I did a lot of research before buying it, and almost went with the Hayate or Hayate Otsu, but I wanted something durable, and seems like those two have issues.

If you mean the white stuff on top of the baseboard on the wall, that's not dust, just some of the white unpainted wall behind it, as I had some issues with the baseboards coming off on that corner, which I need to fix eventually. The case and wooden platform it sits on is dusty as fuck though. Even though I clean it monthly, it still accumulates a crazy amount of dust in a short time.

I have the stock dust filters on the front intake and under the PSU, which I clean every couple of weeks, but they're clearly not enough. I might order some extras for the fan in the back and the PCI brackets specially.

You have the NZXT H440, right? Honestly it's better to get a very "open" case and buy 3rd-party filters for it. And the fans don't have to run as loud because the case isn't as restrictive.

Take any CaseLabs case as an example. Very open and free-flowing. Doesn't come with fan filters, but Demciflex makes amazing 3rd-party filters for all of them that are better than any stock filter on any case. Also, since the case is so open by design (not a lot of fan grills etc.) + better 3rd-party filters you won't have to run the fans as loud or as fast, and when the fans run slower they generate less dust.

Yup, it's an H440. Only really bought it because of how it looked a few years ago, but it ended up being slightly restrictive to work on and the fan filters doesn't seem to help that much when the air comes from very narrow intakes. I've considered getting a new case, but I think it's better to just build a new system on it instead of using this one, and I'm waiting a bit longer for that.
Thanks for the post though. I'll look into what you mentioned, and I agree that getting something more open would be much better.

If it were me... Remove everything from the walls, the wall where your desk is, the bed would go there vertically. Then would either get rid of the desk entirely or have one half the size of it and keep only have the laptop there.

I'd get those canvas organizing boxes and store your shoes instead of having them "air out" it will funk up your dorm room. Papers and shit keep them on your desk that's what its for.

You will find yourself doing more work with less distractions, also, go to the library to get shit done, not only do you get out of your room but you also get more done.
