Hello /g/
Should I get a degree in CS or cyber security?

cyber security is a subfield of CS
I don't know but have a bump anyway, I'm kinda interested in this.

My college offers a degree in CyberSecurity and also Computer Science as a separate degree
Should I bother with the CyberSecurity degree? will employers not take it seriously?
Not OP, but should I pick up a minor in Cyber Security?
It would delay my graduation by a semester (fall 17 to spring 18), and I'd likely only have to pay about $800 after scholarships. I'd be taking 2 criminal justice classes (Evidence and Criminal Justice), and 3 computer science courses (Information Security, Computer Forensics, and Network Security).
I want to be a sysadmin eventually.

what college is that?
Just do CS. You can always specialise in Cyber Security when you come to your postgraduate degree.
This will stop you pigeonholing yourself

Why don't you major in CS and minor in cyber security? See if your school allows it.

In my opinion an extra semester just to complete a minor doesn't seem worth it. If you changed your major and needed to take an extra semester then that would be understandable but not for a minor. Just get certifications in different things, that'll probably be worth more to be honest.

Isn't cyber security just a course?

cyber sex > cyber security

Cs is a broad degree that will qualify you for a lot of job. Cyber security has less jobs. If you know 100% you are going into security then go for it, but the cs degree will qualify for security jobs too. I got a cs degree and took 2 classes focused on security. I learned jack shit honestly. The security degree will prepare you better for a security job.
