Yeah sure, but probably cost fortune.

When I was buying new PC in november, I picked Corsair 200R, which is rather expensive where I live but for you guys is probably dirt cheap.

But shops were full of SilentiumPC and Zalman models instead. Sucks.

Yeah I got the green one. It's cool. My only complaints are the side window, and the fact that the steel is a bit thin.

No.

It's got separate airflow zones for your GPU and CPU+PSU, it will fit a Noctua C14 or a Radeon 6990 (so basically any top-down cooler and any dual-slot video card), and it's the size of a shoebox.

Fundamentally flawed case because using a 50mm cooler will result in turbulence resulting in the thing sounding like a vacuum cleaner. Wait for V2, maybe he will fix is but the creator is an autist so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Getting myself a h110i(non gt), an atx motherboard( i have yet to decide) and a 1800x. I currently have a 292mm gpu but i plan to upgrade to one that might be 425 in the future. What should i choose between the carbide 330r, obsidian 450d or any other compatible case?

I still can't really decide between silence and performance for the radiator.

If anyone has the Aio I'd appreciate some thoughts
>>
>>60442991

>>
>>60443302

>>60443334

>>
>>60442991
The two cases make look similar externally but are very different. First off the M1 was released first and uses a traditional tower layout with no pci-e extender gimmick. The M1 has much better cooling options and more room for storage. It even has an ODD slot if you need it. The Dan case is a novel idea, but the execution is extremely flawed. The upcoming Ghost looks promising though.
>>
>>60443577
The Dan has roughly half the volume of the M1, so theres that. I'm currently leaning towards a Dan v2 via the Kickstarter.

M1 is certainly an option, though shipping + customs might work out quite expensive for me.
>>
>>60443577

Cooling limitations mostly. But also only 1 usb port, no audio ports, and limited storage. With an SFX-L PSU you can only fit 1-2 drives, if you are using the bottom fan in the proposed v2 that brings your total of drives down to 1. MAYBE 2 if your motherboard has m.2 on the underside.

depends on the CPU.

any cooler is going to cause turbulence, since the viscosity of air is so low, you'll always have a pretty high reynolds number. also why would turbulence cause sound more than laminar flow?

>But you won't because gaming machines are loud if you're that close to them.
I literally have a random all-in-one water cooler and my temps never go above 55*C. If I'm not running prime95, it's generally in the ~45*C range, and it's really not loud at all. I also set the fans to be pretty aggressive all around, I could probably make all the case fans permanently quiet and change the CPU settings to say quiet until much higher temperatures and I'd likely have it quiet enough while gaming to use behind the monitor. The only exception probably being the GPU, that thing can be pretty loud at times.

If you really wanted a build like that though, you'd probably use a custom water block on the GPU, and also high-quality fans as opposed to the stock BS that came with the case.

So sound really isn't a problem if you want it not to be.

Wouldn't the close proximity of all components prevent air flow?
>>
>>60447661
eATX or GTFO
>>
>>60447945
What do you mean close proximity? The physical location of the processor and the GPU are exactly the same as with every other motherboard, the only difference is the lack of further PCI-E expansion slots.
>>
>>60447976
In particular, the distance of the CPU heatsink to the gpu, ram, etc.

Wouldn't the tighter layout make heat dissipation a problem since there is less open air for the fans to move?
>>
>>60448019
Yes it does but mATX an ITX fanboys will never admit that to you
>>
>>60448019
Like I said they are paced exactly the same. These components are not closer to each other on smaller boards.

Less volume is no problem either, on the contrary. The more volume you have, the more chaotic your airflow gets, the more places you have for turbulence, and hot air pockets to form.

The ITX case I have is the coolest PC case I ever had.

>>
>>60448050
Technically as long as the air flow is good that's not a problem. Like >>60448059 says, you can have perfectly good airflow in a small space. For instance, compute server racks have a lot of stuff jammed tightly together, and they use tiny fans spinning at like 5000RPM to force air through tiny spaces between components at very high speeds, thus achieving effective cooling.

The problem with this "server rack" cooling model is that, well, your case will also sound like a server rack - which means that you will soon go deaf.

It's not quite as bad when you just go from ATX to mATX but the principle is the same. You'll end up with a vacuum cleaner for a PC.
>>
>>60429980
Anything like this with handles for easy carry?
>>
>>60448122
>You'll end up with a vacuum cleaner for a PC.
Nope. In my case:

Graphics card draws air from the meshed side panel, it goes out the back, since the heatsink has horizontal fins. There is a front fan directly pulling air from outside the case in a straight line to the processor heatsink, the processor heatsink blows it at the back, where it is directly exhausted by the rear fan. No bullshit turns from bottom to top like in ATX cases.

32 decibels in total.
>>
>Cases still don't have front panel type c and thunderbolt
>>
>>60448171
>Most motherboards still don't support type C or thunderbolt
>>
>>60448171
Wrong. There are several cases with Type C, Silverstone KL07 for example,, which is ass cheap.

And Thunderbolt is for Mactoddlers, not PC builders.
>>

Do you really expect them to get ahead of new technology? Not many people have devices that need USB-C. Give it a year or two and they will probably be a thing

You are wrong, the point of SFF is to have a powerful gaming machine in a small form factor for portability. If you just want the smallest computer possible for browsing facebook then get something like an intel NUC. The Dan is legitimately a flawed design as using any cpu cooler larger other than the stock cooler will result in turbulence leading it to being loud as fuck. This isn't because the Dan case can't fit larger coolers, but its ventilation is poorly designed, which is what causes the turbulence in the first place. Imitators like the Ghost fix this problem though.

On the rear, sure, but not as an on-board header, which is what you want for front panel type C on a case. Only a handful of boards have that so far (mostly ASUS).

You could route the cable out the back of the case and to the rear I/O like you had to with early USB 3.0, but that's a pretty inelegant solution. Things that use type C are pretty far and few between right now anyway, so we might as well wait for the proper way with the motherboard header.

What you need is a case mounting, not a case. Open air, latest Crossfire board, 4 GTX 1080s in SLI With A Dual Power Supply to handle the load. You're also going to need an power inverter energy storage unit cause drawing more than a kw off your house current will cause the breaker to trip.

I saw the mounting at fries, they use them to build prototypes.
>>
>>60456539
Second, You're going to need a Mass Storage solution. 5 harddrives mounted in RAID 5 should do the trick, if one pops you'll still have your data and you'll never have to upload to offline storage.

They sell cases for these things but you are going to want an eSATA port connecter or minimum USB 3.0 so when it daisy chains it doesn't take forever.

You'll also need memory for a runtime environment, so I suggest you crosssection two SSD's and use drive mirroring so you won't lose any speed and can back up your data.

You'll also need to use 8 GB sticks for 32 gigs of RAM, with 8GB DDR 5 on each video card. Processor is going to be the new one, the Rizen, you want the 8 core. Normally I shy away from liquid cooling, but for this build I might actually recommend it.
>>
>>60456671
don't forget to use DDR 4 to conform with the new standard.

If you use it for networking, you're going to have to shell out some dough for a t-1 connection, and you're going to have to register it, so no shaky business.

Hard to tell, I cannibalized some things off older cases like the rubber feet, and side panels for material, and I'm nowhere near done, because it's the front panel where it gets tricky. The front "fins" will have recessed RGB strips for example. There are also things I've spent money on, but discarded as an idea later. I will make an estimate of the actual cost once I'm done.

>Is that just a random LCD that you are going too hook up with HDMI
Basically, yes, but I also want to hook it up to electronic sensors, because I don't trust software readouts.
>>
>>60456891
that wasn't the exact one, but it kind of reminded me of it.

You sound like me with the hardware sensors, I intend to do the same but with a OLED setup. You should really do a write up, I think this is really interesting. I dont have any mechanical background but I want to build a case close to yours. How are you having it fabbed?

My younger brother works as a welder in a workshop, and they have CNC machinery to cut panels and they bend them to shape. This is another thing that should cost everyone else money, but I basically get away with it for free as long as I can wait for when the machine isn't used for anything else.
>>
>>60457225
Aaaaah, man thats lucky, well I hope I actually get to see it when its done. Hard to follow projects on 4cahn tho haha

Haha, don't worry, once it's done my attention whoring will have no limits. I'll probably post it in every bst, guts and case thread.

Eventually I'd like to build something like the NZXT Vulcan, I always wanted something light with a singular large handle that didnt look retarded.

it would be if it had more 3.5 bays and not so many 2.5 bays. what where they thinking?

cost of 30tb of ssd is 6 timea the cost of hdd. ssds still have to reaxh the price point of hdds. not having the option to replace the 2.5 with 3.5 was poor planning.
>>
>>60457409
if you afford a case like that...im sure you can afford SSDs

the case isnt that pricey though

air 540 is not small, trades the height and depth of a traditional tower for extra width

i like it for an atx case though, super easy to work in because there's no drives/psu/other shit cluttering around the motherboard and all the cables are hidden off in the second chamber along with that stuff
>>
>>60454856
yeah it's shit that it isn't common on the front of cases but then there's almost nothing using it yet

newer phones are starting to use it now which should help speed up adoption but i don't think we'll get anything beyond single port meme status until there's a better selection of other shit demanding it - external disks, video capture, etc
>>
>>60442839
Eh. I get what you mean, especially about the dust, I guess but overall I'm happy with it.
>>
>>60438546
That revision is the worst they came out with! The Define R3 and R4 plus the Define C are the best versions of that case. Having said that it could definitely be built better. The R3 was my favorite case until I got my hands on higher quality cases.

Out of curiosity what makes the ghost better, all i can see on [H] are some renders which makes its performance pure speculation at this point.

I do want an A4-SFX, its a novel idea but some of the tests do seem loud. Seems the Noctua NH-L9 is the best cooler for it at the moment. I almost bought an N-Case but the shipping is ridiculous and nobody imports it here.

I got this for my new build. Kind of starting to regret it after looking at the layout. How are you supposed to arrange airflow?

Looks good, at least.

Not that I have many options in this shithole of a country.

A guy offered me to trade my Silverstone for a Fractal Define Mini without fans. I have a spare 140mm fan for it.

I'm currently using this HP 2007 shitbox. It weights 10 KGs alone and becomes hot as fuck. It exists in a dimension without airflow. The only opening and fan exhaust is a small 80mm.
>>60462583
Mini-ATX. It was confusing for me, my mainboard is 2 cm too large.

People who actually did a good job of cable management. But I wouldn't want to see them either, due to the current trend of using black liquorice-like cables everywhere. The old colour coded ones looks a lot nicer I think, + they're convenient.

Sleeved cables looks great, but too expensive for what they are.

NZXT Phantom 410 Black/White

Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 Black Blue LEd

Thermaltake Versa N23 Mid-Tower Black

Wew lad, the retardation hurts, doesn't it?
>>
>>60464227
And all of you naysayers conveniently leave out the last piece of option, that completely negates your necessity of a bigger tower... replacing your HDDs with bigger ones.

Cherry picking your arguments won't make your retardation go away, it will just bring it that much closer to the surface.
>>
>>60464273
>replacing HDDs with bigger ones
Yeah, thats TOTALLY how it works you fucking faggot.
>what is value
>what is size caps
>what is raid
I left it out because its pretty fucking obvious why people generally don't buy the top of the line 10TB helium filled garbage drives, and even if they did there is a thing called raid.

At this point you should consider suicide.
