The only purpose of cracks is viruses.
Else they would distribute the game cracked.
It's to make you disable antivirus because even legit cracks get blocked by AV.

The person you know who "cracked the game" probably used some script kiddy cracking tool that actually embeds malware in addition to cracking it. If he cracked it himself from scratch, e.g. manually modified the executable to bypass some check, it would be impossible for anti-malware scanners to detect anything, as it would just be a few bytes changed which doesn't make up any known malware pattern.

It is absolutely, 100% sure that he used a script kiddy tool, for the reason I explained. No manual method would generate a known malware pattern, and anti-malware scanners only detect known malware patterns. If you still try to deny it knowing that fact, you are hopeless.

The funny thing is that the crack is probably clear because all the AVs report different viruses. Which implies it's only based on the assumptions it alters another exe file and they couldn't find an actual virus.
You could always run the crack is a sandbox and then have the files scanned by an AV.

If it had an actual virus it would be reported by all AVs and not just by 50% where everyone reports something different.
