Ubuntu because of how Mark Shuttleworth destroyed the Debian developer community by hiring a handful of them and ignoring the rest, causing massive developer exodus and jealousy. Ubuntu offers NOTHING of value, they don't contribute anything worth shit. They simply rip off unstable Debian packages every 6 months, add a newer, and quite unstable kernel, and a few other packages to meet their company strategies, and then they strong-arm ISPs and vendors into paying royalties and licensing fees, without passing the cost off to customers, and without letting them know that Canonical is doing this.

>>What pissed you off the most about GNU/Linux?
People who make fun of GNU/Linux users for whatever reason. I don't try to "convert" anyone, and I don't give a fucking shit what you use, yet people still feel the need to make jokes. It's not even worth debating them because they are too fucking ignorant to understand why I value and use GNU/Linux.

>>What was your biggest accomplishment?

I directly was involved in the negotiations at the last company I worked for (a major "cloud" vendor). That was about 3-4 years ago. Currently I'm working at one of the largest tech companies in the world (doing more "Cloud" stuff) and Canonical is attempting to extort them as well.

>What pissed you off the most about GNU/Linux?
How long it takes to get open source driver support for new hardware - have to wait until kernel gets the drivers, than wait even more until distros use it. Proprietary drivers usually cause trouble. The insane fragmentation of Distros, there's too many to get proper 3rd company support, so only Debiab/Ubuntu/Red Hat get it.

Made the switch around Christmas 2015 so almost a year and a half

Arch (first actual usage, had installed and fucked around with Ubuntu once before but never used it)

See above

Arch

Arch because it's the only one I've really used and I like it. Looking to possibly switch soon though.

N/a

X screen tearing. Probably switching to Wayland soon

I don't do anything noteworthy

shitty corporations attitude to give at least some advantages to proprietary OSes, like bad nvidia drivers, not porting photoshop etc.
>What was your biggest accomplishment?
Setting a network where first pc connects to internet via ethernet, shares it to second one via wifi, the second one shares it to third computer via ethernet. Attempts to build LFS with some nondefault configurations, didn't succeed too much but was funny. Accidentally deleted all partitions from hard drive and wrote simple program in C to recover them. Built custom pxe-bootable image. Actually I have more but these are related to GNU/linux.

Installing shit is a pain in the ass if it isn't in a repo. Doing basic shit that should be intuitive is instead a pain in the ass protip if your shitty os requires me to look up terminal commands, it's fucking broke and you need to fix it.

Gimp vs photoshop is the perfect example. Photoshop is easy as fuck to use, gimp isn't. Using Linux os is like using gimp. It's crap. Krita is how gimp should be. Linux needs a krita os.

As a sysadmin I see how Ubuntu has made a great difference to Linux systems. I was an early adopter of Debian but it was paralyzed by politics with a random release cycle, the releases between 2.1 and 3 were just laughably delayed.

Ubuntu fixed that with a six-month cycle and raised the bar for installers, and everyone in the community benefitted. Ubuntu desktop was second to none for quality, and Ubuntu server had a release cycle you could count on.
>>

If you are lazy to compile or even just add PPAs to install 3rd party software, there is Arch with its AUR.
Terminal is the main part of Linux the GUI is just a feature on top of that. It is simply a different design which is not meant to act the same as what you are used to on WIndows.
How much have you contributed to free software to make it better? You are perfectly happy to shill out hundreds of dollars for WIndows and software on Windows, how much have you donated to Linux software though? Let me guess 0$, yet you are still acting like you are the boss of someone and demanding stuff which takes hard work, if you want it fixed, either fix it yourself or give money to the project so they can fix it.

From what I've tried I would say Ubuntu
>What pissed you off the most about GNU/Linux?
Programs which require compiling. Even after all these years I never bothered learning how compiling works so I just copy-paste commands from the internet, and half the time they don't work because my system/version is different from the instructions online.
>What was your biggest accomplishment?
Getting to the point where I can stick to a fully-free distro comfortably

You mean on how to use Linux? Not really in the general sense, just kinda do it. Nothing is especially complex about using Linux.
>>
Since 2013

Suse 8 or 9, don't remember, was shit

bare metal:
Pardus Linux, Elementary, Pinguy OS, Xubuntu
virtual:
Sabayon, Gobolinux, MoonOS, OpenSuse, Netrunner, ChaletOS, Edubuntu, SalixOS, ghostBSD and some others I don't remember

Xubuntu

Xubuntu

Anything using Gnome, KDE or these silly tiling window managers

Shitty DEs, bugs, retarded file hierarchy

the fact it has the shittiest GUI imaginable it completely ruins desktop experience. no good image editor, video editor. file manager. both GTK and Qt are complete shit (don't even get me started on Choose File dialogs) and literally all DE's are buggy and pieces of shit. I like the terminal but you can't do everything in terminal. (eg. image file management) also trying to make anything productive in Vim was an excruciating pain (which was failure anyway and nothing productive was made).
>What was your biggest accomplishment?
It used to be figuring unix file system, figuring i3 and figuring vim out.
Now? I'm glad the computer boots and Chromium works so I can just go on /g/ cause I completely lost motivation to learn anything anymore (that was years ago).

Regularly using? About a month. This wasn't my first time using it though, I first touched it when I got a RasPi back like three or four years ago

Raspbian, or void Linux, depending on how you count.

Raspbian, debian, ubuntu, OSX (for work, not by choice), CentOS, Void

Void

Define "favourite". Void out of what I've used, gentoo theoretically, source mage in an abstract sort of way
>What is your least favorite distro?
Fedora
>What pissed you off the most about GNU/Linux?
systemd
>What was your biggest accomplishment?
I wrote an inane script to run an ssh session in a detached tmux session and use simple wrappers to send commands to it and pipe out output through an intermediary "temporary" file (that morphed into a log file over time), allowing interaction with the sshed machine without having to have the ssh job take over the terminal.

Complete waste of time for what it is but it was fun, and made me learn tmux.
