On a laptop, you have at least one display large enough to view the document, but either through virtual desktops or multiple screens, you can easily switch between your browser, your editor and your document, where as android and ios is not really meant for that.
Adding a keyboard makes your setup take up as much room as a laptop.
A bluetooth keyboard and you can't argue the price is the issue.
Adding a screen and you are basically running a crippled desktop with no good applications and a poor UI.

Just accept that phones are shit and they will always be shit and the only way to make them less shit is to focus on the parts where they actually work.
And since the consensus is that phones should just be an acceptable way to carry around your masturbatory aid in public, any serious work will not happen on the phone.

I knew it was possible, I have a dock for my phone so I can use multiple usb ports and an external screen, but I never use it because it is a crap experience compared to using a desktop or laptop to write the same thing.
