I dont really play games so the extremely high refresh rates would be lost on me.

I read a lot and I have found that the Ultrasharp monitors I have used in the past seem to give me less eye issues but that could all be in my head.

I own 3 ultrasharps; 2 x U2715H and 1 x U3415W. This is my second set of Ultrasharps, with the previous being 1 x U2711 and 1 x U2415.

I can tell you with certainty, it's better to have a reasonable and comfortable DPI range, not the smallest DPI, as it helps with text readability, eye strain and system performance, not just for gaming but even for general usage.

I can also tell you that Ultrasharps usually run pretty warm, especially the larger ones. 1 monitor you won't notice, but three sometimes can make the pc area a warm pocket compared to the rest of the house.

I do love my screens though and don't regret purchasing them at all.

I believe it would require a fundamental change of the core UI. A proper scalable UI would rely on vector elements and images. Currently it's at the very beginning of scaling support. Give it another 5 years before we get maybe started with actual changes that will move towards proper support. macOS is an example of half-way there vector scaling. Even it's still got issues though with 4K scaling.

If you have a piece of paper with size 3 type an arm length away from your eyes, you're going to have eye strain trying to read the words. Same here with 4K, high DPI means text will render at 100% by default, yet show on the monitor much smaller than you're used to. You can THANKFULLY scale text in web browsers really well these days (mines set at 150% for sites like 4chan, where it's nearly all text), since fonts are vectors, and high DPI mobile screens resulted in an abundance of extra-high resolution graphics being used for most modern websites, so images won't look blocky/pixelated when scaled for most decent sites. Doesn't help with most desktop applications though.

Yeah it's fine for most people. Just some people might be surprised if they weren't expecting it, so I tend to point it out so they know in advance.

Dell definitely have good and bad times to buy, as they have a monitor sale maybe twice a year, and it might save you even up to 15% or so on total price. Worth it going direct for the awesome warranty service they have for the Ultrasharps.

Yeah but what I am looking for is a large amount of screen space to make use of while just reading text but I am also very used to deep color at this point as I have been using monitors like this for a decade now.

That sucks for them, as long as the new ones dont get as hot as an A/AB amp then I am fine with whatever heat they put out.

Sure, in 5-10 years it might start getting worked on when high-mid graphics cards can begin rendering games at 4K 60FPS with reliability. Maybe. And then it'll be a few years to get to half-way. And another few times longer to perfect it.

1440p is plenty large for most people, and more so when ultrawide. You really shouldn't need more than this, and at such a high DPI with 4K, you'll likely scale it upwards anyway for readability.

I'm not arguing against colour reproduction features. I'm arguing against the resolution. You can choose a Premier Color Ultrasharp without it being 4K. Colour reproduction doesn't improve with screen size/resolution. It's just the tech behind the panel that makes the difference. And a colour calibration device. I personally use the X-Rite iDisplay Pro along with DisplayCAL. Not a fan of the Dell calibration tool.

I've had a monitor go yellow on me. It was a month before the warranty expired. They no longer had replacements available. So I got an upgrade ($800 monitor replaced for newer model, Premier Color version valued at $1200) for free, free pickup of the old item and delivery of the new one. Pretty sure the delivery was 1-2 days. And they picked up the old one once I confirmed I got the new one, just in case there were issues with the new one.
I might not have had typical CS though, as I live in Australia. But I lived in the middle of nowhere, and getting a courier to do all that is rare here. And an RA response within two days is amazing.

Depends on the budget and usage.

For productivity, something like a Dell U2715H is lovely, but might be a bit pricey for just word processing and web browsing.
I'd agree mostly with >>60412746 in this case, find a nice IPS panel at a more budget friendly price that has decent reviews in regards to light bleed and brightness, and has a good warranty in regards to dead pixels and the number of years covered.
And then buy yourself a nice calibration tool. I use the X-Rite iDisplay Pro along with DisplayCAL, but there's heaps of choice in regards to what colorimeter to pick if that one seems a bit much.

But scrolling isn't that bad, or you could just use the down arrow on the keyboard, setup a macro for scrolling at a set interval, use the page down button or with a high enough refresh rate, you could auto-scroll easily by clicking the scroll wheel and moving the mouse slightly down at a point where it's at the same rate of your reading.

But yeah it seems to be holding up quite well, but lots of people don't care of DSLR's either so average lifetimes might not be good indicators when there's people who have never had them maintained, don't care where they're stored, leave lenses off for long periods of time without covering, don't clean the outside, have grubby fingers and use buttons, let the kids use them, drop things, etc.

Thinking about adding another monitor but my RX 480 doesn't clock down when there are multiple monitors so it idles at 70C KEK. I might buy an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme IV or just wait for RX VEGA and buy an AIB aftermarket cooler card because they have fixed the dual monitor clock down in the 580 cards already, so it will probably be the same with VEGA.

I really want vertical dual monitor but there is literally no one selling vertical stands in my country

Jag får jättebra temperaturer med min Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 (54C efter 25 min i prime95 small FFT enligt Ryzen Master och HWinfo64 (Tctl/Tdie)), men den är så jävla stor! Also quite nice. The "new" one only has 1680x1050 resolution compared to 1080p for the old ones. I was kind of afraid, because I knew from windows that your mouse could get stuck then when going from one to another monitor. Linux (or atleast ubuntu) scales everything properly and you dont even notice that they have different resolution.

The wood in that desk was from a black walnut tree I had to cut down to make more trails for permanent maple tree taps and their hoses.

I agree that some pictures go overboard, where you have a big ass table with almost nothing on it. However if your clutter is piling up easily, that's only saying you have a bad organizational system to begin with, so you need to reevaluate your choice of furniture. I declutter my table top twice a day, and I almost never end up needing the item I put away right after I've done so.

So my desk isn't preened up for photos, it's being kept clean intentionally.

Unused cables in the drawer, trash (like bottle caps) in the bin, empty plate in the kitchen right after eating, etc. I'm not preening, I'm just not being a slob.

The only two things I intentionally remove before taking a picture are tissue boxes, and any sort of hand care product, because I'm tired of hearing I use it for fapping, as if that would be the only thing people would ever use these things for.

Custom made. I designed it in SketchUp and built the frame in 1x1 steel square tube. The table top is 3/4" thick melamine ordered custom from a local sawmill's supplier. If you're looking for something similar think like counter top.
My goal was a U desk with no legs in the way the whole way around. Ended up as more of a J but I'm happy with it.

I quite like it! The minor things are you have to USB charge the pens. You get two so when one dies (a month charge) you swap for the other. Screen is big and comfortable and I like it a lot. Very high quality. Stand is sturdy and fully adjustable too.
Can't complain! Not having any chronic issues with it or even regular issues. If you regularly use tablet shortcut buttons you will not be happy because it doesn't have those but I got used to it.
Cintiq was too expensive and this looked the better deal.
