My pos walmart brand speakers died this weekend. Does /g/ have any recommendations to turn my computer into a wall of sound?
why speakers and not headphones

he probably isn't a whiny pussy
any budget limitations?
if not just get some ATC SCM 150

A variety of reasons
the computer is the only tv in my place
i listen to music while cleaning or doing whatever
headphones get uncomfortable after too long.
the speakers built into my monitor are trash. lots of distortion, a kind of whine whenever loud sounds happen suddenly.

maybe under $200

micca mb42x or dayton b652 air
paired with any small lepai 2020 or smsl sa-50 t-style amp

For this broad range use I wouldn't consider anything less than:
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloudmm/
It's $300 though.

>wall of sound?
>$200
Sure... It's not gonna be a wall of music or pleasant sound waves, though.

if you plan on upgrading your setup later you should go with >60405525
and get a sub when cash is available
if you just want better sound in general i would recomend the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 or the edifier S330D

Not OP, but my old Logitech Z4 speaker system is dying/shitty. It'll randomly cut off the sub completely and I have to get under the desk and wiggle the cord (not the aux cable, the cable that goes to the volume control) and it'll make some awful noise when it hits the sweet spot and works again.
Anyways, I live in the northern Virginia area, if you could let me know if there are any decent deals around here that'd be cool. I'd like to spend less than $70 if possible, but am willing to go as high at $90-ish.
