Virus, worms and trojans are all malware
>>60402983
All of them are malware
>virus
As the name suggest, a virus attacks your system. However, most virus requires some form of interaction to execute it
>trojan
some program disguised to be a normal program. Can be as simple as naming an virus.exe to jav.mp4.exe and hopes that tech illiterate people click on it, and can be as complicated as some obscure code in the software.
>worm
worm contains the payload, which is usually a virus. It crawls around spreading itself and executing the payload.
>>60402983
Vrisuses make u sick
malware is "bad-wares" like a flea market
worms are in the dirt
trojans are what broke to spawn OP
>>60402983
These are things you don't have to worry about after you already installed Gentoo.
>>60402983
That question hurt my brain.
>what's the difference between a BMW, car, kart, racecar, truck, Lamborghini?
The way i gather it:
>malware
General term for all of the mentioned.
MaliciousWare
>worm
A program with the purpose of invading computers and spreading.
>trojan
Creates an opening. The false-positive equivalent of a worm whose purpose is to trick the computer into letting it in.
>virus
A program which has destructive purposes.
Worms and trojans are not necessarily viruses.
They can be keyloggers which track your typing.
A virus is exclusively destructive.
