Either you use chrome or the default browser.
Literally nobody packages firefox as the default except for freetards, and it's always an outdated GPL-safe version without any trademarks because firefox's license isn't COMPATIBLE WITH MUH FREEDUMBS!!

Looks like Edge ffs
>>
>>60392352
I sat on FF2 well into them having released 4.0 because I hated the UI changes they kept making.
>>
>>60392356
That space isn't wasted, it's reserved. The tab bar doesn't need to compete with the titlebar, the main menu doesn't ever need to be hidden, none of the buttons should combine or disappear, if I type something in the address bar I don't mean "search for this" and if I type something in the search bar I don't mean "resolve this as a web address"

The icons are inconsistent, because CTR is a hack to fix something that shouldn't have been fucked with in the first place, and because addon devs have better things to worry about

The status bar is useful and important

I sure do!

of all the changes they made since, the one I can agree with is removing the menu bar. You can bring it back at any time by pressing Alt anyway.

Moving tabs to the top isn't a bad thing, as long as you do it in a way so it is compatible with the host OS's window handler. You should have enough space there to drag the full window too, not just one tab. For example in Win7/10 you can drag the window to the left side to make it appear in half screen width. In IE11 and I think Chrome, you can do this with individual tabs directly... with Firefox, only the entire window, so you have to first remove a tab into another window, and then pull that to the side.

Why are they always changing what hasn't ever been a problem - the UI? I would ditch chropera for FF ages ago if it weren't so dogshit slow when you have more than one tab open(even with e10 - the UI remains responsive but pages freeze completely until every one of them is completely loaded)..
>>
They finally embraced the unibar design?
>>
>>60396892
SeaMonkey solves this problem, and the UI is totally customizable via CSS just like Firefox.
>>
>>60397109
Does it use a different engine or something.

Sorta, but it's mostly compatible.

Tabs on bottom don't.
>>
>>60392669

>>
>>60397168
Also, you can easily convert most FF addons with http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/ (Greasemonkey does not work, but there is a port on SourceForge).
>>
looks like something the turboautists that use loonix would design tbf
>>
>>60397258
Everything on one line is fucking retarded. It just ends up making the entire location bar expand and contract as you open new pages and worst case the location bar becomes like 40px wide and barely even usable. It's also a huge distraction since shit is constantly moving around outside your peripheral vision.
>>

Mozilla is making CSS a standard part of the theme APIs I believe. The new lightweight themes are CSS

Seamonkey is dead m8, it's barely supposed at all by mozilla and it along with thunderbird is being forced to firefox ESR so they can forget about it.
>>
>>60397435
It's not supported by Mozilla at all ever since the name change to SeaMonkey, and it's not dead. Yet.
>>
>>60397427
The "compact" light/dark themes are CSS based and basically being used to prototype the theme APIs.

SeaMonkey has never been maintained by Mozilla. Mozilla only provides security related things and build infrastructure. It's maintained by the community. Thunderbird is the same.

>The most critical issue is to support web extensions in one of the next releases. It is unclear how long we will be able to support classic extensions.
JUST
>>
>>60397779
If the seamonkey devs want to keep up with firefox they'll likely come to a point where they'll have to merge code that is incompatible with classic extensions and then they'll be forced to choose between them. That's what they're saying basically. They'll maintain support for as long as possible though.

It sounds like seamonkey will eventually lose all of its defining characteristics aside from the interface and basically end up being a port of firefox's web engine to a different interface.

Looks almost like the 28 theme, it's not very different. I wonder if this is a way to reach out to people who rely on the Classic Theme Restorer addon. Since CTR wont work with 57 they tried to bring back parts of the 28 theme. It also re-introduces small icons mode and it also separates the toolbar buttons back into individual buttons like before.

Nightly is already part of the way there. If you enable one of the compact themes you basically just have to change the icons and add some spacing from there. The home button isn't included in the navigation buttons group yet though so it cannot be placed in-between the refresh/stop and location bar yet. I don't know if Mozilla plans to make it possible to move the navigation buttons around like before but it should be possible to move them indirectly by moving the other buttons around them.
