After a few days of use I can say a few things:

I like the build quality and performance of the phone (I'm upgrading from a Zenshit 2 though). The fingerprint scanner is ok at best, often unreliable and requiring more than one try (I fixed this by adding more scans of the same fingerprint.

MIUI 8 is shit but I didn't install any custom ROM yet. I'm using Nova launcher but doesn't work with the 3D touch thing that Xiaomi copied from Apple.

If it's for a knife you made, build it yourself.
If it's for a knife you bought, ask the custom maker to make a stand for you.
If it's for a mass produced knife you bought and wish to display, just use a wine cork.

If you insist, there's this.

They're legit old Xeons with S771->S775 adapter patches soldered on.

They usually require modding the BIOS with Xeon microcode to work properly (and don't work at all on some boards), but they're much cheaper than equivalent Core 2 Quads, and L-series have no C2Q equivalents at all.

Buyer protection for an item I ordered back in March is ending in a few hours. I requested for the protection to be extended since shipping always takes ages, but the seller has not responded in 3 days. I am unable to open a dispute for this order either, since the dispute page tells me that the order shipped "recently" (shipped on March 15) and I have to wait longer / for today. After contacting AliExpress support and sending them a screenshot, they told me to wait 10 more days to see if tracking info would update, which of course it won't, but support also said they would email the seller to deal with this.
I also checked a few other orders which will timeout soon and noticed that I am unable to open non-receipt disputes on a computer web browser, but able to open one via the mobile app - at least for now.
Has this happened to anyone else? It seems weird and beyond regular chinkery. I've been able to open disputes without such hassle in the past.

They could be alright, but not great I guess.

Ausdom is a pretty big brand which makes webcams and other things. So it's a somewhat established brand, which is a good thing in general.
https://www.ausdom.com/index.php/audio?ikey=6

Apparently the sound in these aren't great but it's alright. The low noise isolation in these things may be a big minus of you want to use them outside in public which you're probably going to risk with a pair of $39.99 headphones (though I prefer $20 headphones when there's a high risk of getting robbed, until I find some $50 headphones with good sound that look like they cost $10). A review I found,

For second time since I purchase it, I have found my Mi Band after losing it on the street.

The first time I lost it someone placed it on top of a public phone, so it was hard to find, my phone could see it but I was looking for it below cars.

This time it was in the middle of a busy street, still working I just need to glue the top, sadly I couldn't find the actual band, it seems I dropped it while crossing the street 2 days ago, and today I noticed my phone was still reporting the Mi Band battery drop(fix notification), so I walked my usual path with my phone searching for it, and found it after 10secs that the phone reported the band was on range in the middle of the street, and the aluminum part was about 5 meters away.

Just in time, today I had plans to buy the Mi Band 2.

I bought me a xeon e5450 for an old computer to substitute a core 2 duo E7200 because I'm poor, I might also get some more ram, I have 3GB of DDR2 on a mobo supporting single channel only right now
also heatsinks for the VRM's because the mobo is supposed to work with a proc that has max 65w TDP and the xeon is 80w

then the sharpening stone, because I had gotten one from the chink and it arrived chipped, so I asked for a refund and he said he would send me another after I insisted a bit
fast forward 3 months stuff hasn't arrived and I haven't heard from the chink in 2 months and a half, maybe more, so when the new stone arrives I'll send ali a pic of the old, chipped one and get my money back
I won't be chinked this easily

Laser-cut stainless steel, technically no tools needed, but tweezers, needle-nose pliers, and a tiny pair of scissors you don't love will help a shit load. Any model without a lot of curves or circles is a good place to start, tank models are pretty good about that (minus the wheels).

You ~ get what you paid for. with the Convoys.

They do have better materials and LED chips and so on than the 5 Eur LED. With most 5 Eur LED, you might as well get a SK68 clone or something for $2, no real difference.
>>
>>60394975
They are not. They are actually cheap as fuck.

You can have a small toy drone with RC for $15, a slightly nicer toy drone with remote control (like the JJRC H31 that I tend to recommend to beginners) for ~$25-30, and a very capable enthusiast to expert drone with powerful engines and a very capable RC for $200, in either parts to assemble yourself or even pre-assembled (Eachine Wizard or something).
>>
>>60395157

>>
>>60395209
$100-200 is cheap as fuck for a device with so much nice technology on board.

You forgot a bunch of components, like the ESCs + gyro(s), power, radios (usually two if you have FPV - one for control and one for video, both not the simplest technology possible but rather fancy with frequency negotiation and hopping etc.), very precise and fast GPS/GLONASS(/Beidou/Galileo) receivers, maybe laser/ultrasonic altimeters and so on.

Plus the antennas, LED, buzzers and other (often) not so expensive stuff.

It's fucking cheap and was impossible to get this cheap even just a few years ago.
>>
>>60393953
How can he make video reviews when he's spending so much time streaming N64 games?
>>
>>60395269
A lot of this seems like it could be done cheaper. Batteries aren't included. Radio can be handled via GSM. Can't the ESC stuff be handled in the microcontroller?
>>
>>60395269
Ah yes, the motors on the propellers also tend to be really nice for the $100+ quadcopters.

$10+ is a fair market price for most of them.

I used these in the past, they are generally $3-5 each at a hardware store. They are perfect for camping, holding down tarps, and shit. They are very strong. I'm sure these are just as good, and while its not the best deal, its hard to find these cheaper elsewhere.

> Batteries aren't included.
They are on most toy quadcopters, but generally it's the case that enthusiasts have / choose their own batteries and RC and thus they're not included again to keep shipping and item costs lower, sure.

> Radio can be handled via GSM.
Feel free to build your machine that way. I think it's a damn stupid idea though.

> Can't the ESC stuff be handled in the microcontroller?
Speed control is usually combined with power management (BEC) on the ESC.

You could surely put it all on one board or something, but generally you don't want the thing running (changing) software to be too tightly coupled with the things that runs a type of (probably not really changing) hardware.

> A lot of this seems like it could be done cheaper.
That observation may be overall true, but usually you don't want to use shit GPS receivers and shit engines and shit microcontrollers on a quadcopter that will then fly less long, less reliably, less fast, and not least of all, probably crash more because sensors provide wrong readings / the microcontroller processes them too slow / signals get interrupted (...)

The components used on the usual hobbyist quadcopters are rather nice. Higher-end uBlox GPS receivers that basically WILL have a signal and maintain it reliably, RC that do the same on multiple channels, and so on.

Again, these devices are very cheap for how good they are. $200 is next to nothing for such very capable flying machines.

What kind of SFF toaster is this?
>>
>>60395521
>Feel free to build your machine that way. I think it's a damn stupid idea though.
Why? GSM has low latency and can transmit ~13 kbit. Of course, the video signal if desired needs more but that's not strictly needed, and that could theoretically be done over 3g.
>but generally you don't want the thing running (changing) software to be too tightly coupled with the things that runs a type of (probably not really changing) hardware.
Why? If the code runs in fixed time, nothing can go wrong.

Can't the accelerometer, gyro, altitude reading, and location sensing parts be done by interpreting camera input using the microcontroller?

I just don't understand. The chinks build low quality products that they know will crash and burn to include feature X while keeping price under $Y. Why doesn't the same go for RC vehicles?
>>
>>60395614
>Why? GSM has low latency and can transmit ~13 kbit.
It also has huge problems with interference and is typically too shitty to even transfer a small file to a FTP while driving when people tried to transfer a file with standard TCP/IP.

That is WITH all the bigger base stations that mobile phone operators have in urban areas.

Besides you might not have a suitable license, and more issues. But feel free to use GSM. Lel.

> Why? If the code runs in fixed time, nothing can go wrong.
You should totally write your fixed time code then. If you can't even see where this will go wrong with the features people expect from actual quadcopter software and all the IO from sensors, then well ... fuck, just do it all cheaper.

> Can't the accelerometer, gyro, altitude reading, and location sensing parts be done by interpreting camera input using the microcontroller?
Theoretically... maybe?

But maybe you need complex insect eye type cameras and microcontrollers with software to process them or something.

Such special components are NOT going to be cheaper any time soon vs. well engineered, capable and frankly still not terribly expensive existing components that exist *now*.

> I just don't understand.
Yea, you don't. Do a bunch of more complex engineering yourself first. You'll get a hang of why not everything is super easy eventually.

> the chinks build low quality products that they know will crash and burn
No. Not generally. They mostly want to build a brand. Even if it's cheap, it needs to not be utterly shit.

> Why doesn't the same go for RC vehicles?
The hobbyist quadcopters are *actually* featuring rather high quality components - you generally can't source things that are much better at a sensible price.

Because that's what the hobbyists want and pay for.

>Can't the ESC stuff be handled in the microcontroller?

An ESC is a pretty sophisticated piece of kit responsible for taking a (usually) analogue throttle value and converting it to appropriate 3-phase AC signals to turn electromagnets on and off many times a second and thereby make some magnets spin around. The fact that you can buy a pretty decent one capable of handling 30A sustained current with user-configurable and updatable firmware for less than $10 these days is nothing short of amazing.

>>60395614
>GSM has low latency and can transmit ~13 kbit.
And what advantages would it offer for consumer quadcopters? The 2.4GHz units they use are cheap as fuck, and decent ones can have a range of several miles.

>Why? If the code runs in fixed time, nothing can go wrong.
An ESC is mostly hardware components, and they're usually the first bit to die on a quad. If they're on a physically separate board from the other electronics there's less to replace when one burns out. There is at least one FC with integrated ESCs and everything else, but it's no cheaper than getting everything as separate bits since the PCB isn't the expensive part.

>Can't the accelerometer, gyro, altitude reading, and location sensing parts be done by interpreting camera input using the microcontroller?

Gyros, barometers, accelerometers and magnetometer chips cost maybe $2 each. A processor capable of decoding video data like you're describing in real time, 60 times a second, would not cost $8.
>>
>>60395269
>>60395521
I remember radio driven cars, yes, cars, little motorized toy cars that drove around on the ground - which cost more than these rather advanced drone copters that are available today.

The technology you get for the price is rally amazing.

If someone had told me that I could fly something around and record video with it just ten years ago for $2000 then I'd probably see it as a real bargain.

I think they're better with Q5.

SK68 clones are not that great a host for a XM-L2. Even if you use 14350s (which really are not nearly as good a value and compromise as 18650s are, or even just boring super cheap AA NiMh on the Q5), they won't last very long.

Too much of a bother with how much recharging that causes.

>An ESC is a pretty sophisticated piece of kit responsible for taking a (usually) analogue throttle value and converting it to appropriate 3-phase AC
There is a good deal of stupidity in that with the standard lego-style ESCs. The control microcontroller generates a digital value for each motor, uses that to generate an analog PWM signal, which is then digitized by another microcontroller on the ESC. This probably introduces a good deal of latency, innacuracy and complexity. A digital bus or running the logic on the main MCU would probably be more efficient. I would guess the primary reasons not to do that are compatibility and that the fast MCUs needed for logic are generally low voltage and lack the ADCs for controlling the motors.

Hi /csg/, Oukitel k6000 Pro anon here,

My gf's 1st gen MotoG is dying. It was bought based on /g/ recommendation and she loved the shit out of it. Now she needs a replacement, and asked me to look for a chink phone. I wonder if you could help me?

Requirements:
- 5 inch screen and no bigger (small female hands)
- As good a camera as you can get
- Decent audio chip for lossless audio via IEMs
- Battery life is not important, especially if quick charging is available. Feel free to recommend whatever you feel is good
- screen should be good, but not necessarily the BEST. She's not going to watch tiny shit on it, just play Neko Atsume, 80 days, fallen London, read articles on the bus, etc.

Thank you in advance! Have a cat pic!

5 inch screen is still mandatory, mate. I have big hands, and even I find 5.5 inch on the Oukitel k6000pro too big to handle with one hand.

Maybe I'll have to wait anyway

>RNP3 en route to local warranty provider
>in a week they'll receive it
>they'll check and claim there's nothing wrong with it as random reboots only started when setting up the phone (i thing they are hardware related but not sure about it)
> I'll have to argue about it
> they'll end up sending the Ali voucher after a few weeks

That's best case scenario, if they don't acknowledge warranty I'l buy a non-chinkshit phone from local Amazon just for the better warranty

Still waiting on a GPS module.

The arms fold up against the body which makes it very easy to shove into a backpack. They're also just 12mm CF tubes with some holes drilled for the mounts so I'm going to make some longer ones which will let me swing bigger props and have something slightly more suited to aerial photography.

No idea what the legislation is in Hungary but in general the regs in Europe amount to
>don't be a prick
>don't fly it too close to normies
>don't fly it too far away from you
>if you're using it for professional purposes you need a licence
