It was a Thompson actually. But I had to move it somewhere else because it was a gift from my previous girlfriend who killed herself. I had put her necklaces and her charms from her car keys on it as a sort of way to remember her. I mean they would certainly benefit from a sub and I plan on getting one. But the last few times I've had money to buy one I've been happy enough with them that I spent it elsewhere.

You do have to turn them up a bit to get the low end to come through though. And the knobs are all but useless. I always leave them right in the middle and make adjustments at the source. If you turn the volume knob under 25%, the second speaker pretty much just drops out.

I'd definitely recommend them for a budget setup. It's a really nice all in one package that doesn't compromise at all.

My poorly lit setup is extremely similar to yours, I just need a Steelcase Leap.

I improved the sound from my Q100s by bringing the desk out 8 inches from the wall and using the sticky rubber wedges that came with the speakers to angle them up towards my ears. I had stands for a while but preferred this solution as it kept the desk feeling cleaner.

So I haven't been on /g/ in a while, but from what I remember while battlestation threads have always been consumerist circlejerks, I used to like the ones on /g/ because the stations seemed geared more towards programming, system administration, sound engineering, graphic design, or some other practical purpose. It was satisfying to witness in the same way that seeing a well organized machine shop was satisfying.
