honestly as a fulltime "dev" (ie im employed to write java)
linux is rad as a standalone, like if i was like "i need a computer to write this RIGHT NOW!" i would want someone to hand me a modern linux distro computer because i know i can just open up terminal and compile c/java/etc with no extra work
in windows i would be all hurr durr gotta go on da internet and download the java sdk and then figure out how to fucking use the cmd prompt or powershell to actually compile (can you even do that?) and deal with the fucking autism that is coding in c/++ on windows, dont they still need to use that mingw compiler or w/e? its fucking cancer jesus christ
but once you set up your shit on windows its probably easier to maneuver and expand since its the most common OS
