I just got a record player but, unfortunately, my TV doesn't receive audio from it unless a video source is sending signal to it at the same time. I managed to trick my TV by running my game cube as the video source but I was just wondering what kind of effect this would have on my Gamecube over time. Alternatively, does anyone know a cheap fix to my problem?

If you don't put a disc in and just let it sit on the memory card screen, nothing of particular note will happen. Hardware can and will run 24/7 with minimal impact for YEARS.
If you're a retard and put a disc in it, you'll most likely end up wearing out the disc drive.

Well I guess the silver icecube that it renders at the menu would take a reasonable amount of GPU effort. If you could make it constantly show a 2D screen perhaps this would be less taxing.

I'm definitely planning on it but I just graduated and I'm going to have to wait until I get a few paychecks from my new job to do so.
