Name the worst router brand and why
>>60337662
D-Link
>>60337672
This.
They all make shitty models if you buy this cheapest piece of shit they make, but belkin is probably the worst since all they make are cheap pieces of shit.
>>60337662
Any Linksys older than 2010

>wrt54g

Come on bro
>>60337662
This >>60337672 I have one, doesn't get any firmware updates, many of the options don't even work, shitty UI, and it gets hot.
Why do these things heat up so fucking much?
>>60337779
Word. I've had a few of them just stop working on me, they short out or something. NEVER AGAIN.
>>60338094
well for assholes like me, we have 1gbps internet and actually strain the hardware to get our full 1gbps speeds.
>>60337984
you seem to be the kind of guy that smokes cock, regularly, black cocks.
Hey /g/, isnt tp-link bad? Google 'tp link man in the middle' and 'tp link exploit'.

mfw i own a d-link modem connected to a belkin router. but the d-link is top notch and the belkins software is second only to linksys.

I've always preferred D-Link myself. Not a fan of Linksys.
All my perfect home routers have been top tier D-Link routers. Gone through 4-5 generations of them. They've always had more configurable stock firmware that the rest, IMHO. Belkin and Linksys have always given me trouble. They also weren't top dollar routers either.
Nowadays, I don't seen much reason to upgrade. Only for the latest WIFI, but I can just get an access point for that and keep my router.

TP-Link
>no uptime data
>firmware is shit, often not updated at all.
Got a TP-Link Archer D7. The faggots upgraded the firmware to some web interface BS with less functionality than before.

You're using a modem-router combo, were you expecting anything else? TP makes great solo routers

This wasn't a problem even when this shit was going down

Done.
>>60338188
>using chink hardware with it's default firmware
They're pretty cheap and they usually have good dd-wrt support so I don't have anything against TP-Link
Is Arris top tier?
>>60337662
Your dads mouth, because it sucks.
Why do you faggots put up with running shit tier networking equipment? Build your own from a Goodwill $30 PC and pfsense.
>>60339847
>500W computer to pass network traffic
I, too, light birthday candles with my flamethrower. Lighters are such shit tier.
>>60338993
Also great solo modems.
>>60339071
Implying it's even a problem when my device is acting as pure L2.
>>60338083
Just get one that supports dd-wrt or openwrt. I'm still using an 8yo one that works well.

>Atheros
>Still stuck on Kernel 3.18
Why even buy shit Atheros gear then? It's finnicky, generally slower than Broadcom and apparently still doesn't have drivers or support in newer kernel versions.
Broadcom wins again.
>>60340034
>Still stuck on Kernel 3.18
Don't buy any embedded systems then. That includes android phones.
>>60340048
>muh 'it's embedded so it's allowed to be bad' meme
fuck off, that stupid way of thinking is why shit like >>60339071 even happens in the first place.
raspi is an 'embedded platform' yet there are updates for various OS'es that it can run all the time - even VxWorks gets regular updates.
iPhone too is an 'embedded platform' yet it also gets kernel updates regularly (until a particular model is no longer supported)
>>60340090
Yes, because I'm sure the companies care to put time/effort into updating the kernel, fixing all the patches they need to apply to get the SoC to work, then testing for stability. Kernel 3.18 is still listed under LTS even if the one he's using is only 4 versions old. Not like anything not running 4.11 is instantly outdated.
