Why did you do it? To "figure out how your system works"? The only thing you probably found out installing that thing is that your OS runs services in the background. VERY impressive! And you even followed that i3wm webcast on youtube! Great! You forgot to actually configure your font renderer, though.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you installed Infinality:
sudo bash /etc/fonts/infinality/infctl.sh setstyle

not really, lately it's been very stable, just keep it debloated and update every day or week, DE tends to be lots of processes running at the same time and some of then may not update synced to work properly, almost 2 years running same install with a all the shit I find in AUR, currently just GNS3 is broken but I don't need it

I used Arch for a few years and switched to Fedor recently. It's so nice being on a professional OS that actually contributes to GNU/Linux. Installation is a breeze. Package management is good (as is arch). Seems quite stable

If Arch doesn't work, it's not an issue with the OS, It's a PEBKAC situation. Stop being a mongoloid.

Give me ONE (1) good reason to use an unstable distro
>>
>>60344655
You have yet to prove that Arch is unstable.
>>
>>60344679
Not the guy you're replying to, but Arch is by definition unstable since it's bleeding edge.

"Stable" means that the packages have been rigorously tested to behave consistently in a specific ecosystem, not that it works on your machine. Bleeding edge packages cannot be "stable" under any non-meme definition of the word because they simply have not been in the respective ecosystem long enough to identify any problems.

>>60330727
>don't want to spent hours setting shit up

>>
>>60340465
Having to install all your drivers doesn't make you edgy, it makes you retarded.
>>
>>60344576
If you mean by free as in the distro like the package manager and essential base software is free, yes. If you mean by stallmans definition of free no, the repos contain proprietary software.
>>
>>60344679
They can never do it, it's hilarious.
>>
>>60344791
see >>60344729
>>
>>60344729
>>60344855
Actually Arch aims to provide the latest STABLE versions of software, not unstable/beta/testing like debian sid for example. So yes, it is bleeding edge, but not unstable. See the overview of arch:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux
"Bleeding edge" is not a synonym of "unstable". Arch can be easily configured into a robust system. The point still stands, it has yet to be proven that Arch is unstable.
>>
>>60330727
Because it's a proprietary botnet.

>>60345263
Care to explain why it's not built into the OS if it's so easy?

I was going to try Arch but then I see retarded shit about having to hand configure everything and realize I'd rather spend hours being productive than pretending to be a leet hacker.
>>
>>60345018
Might play with it in a VM sometime, for now I will stick with Xubuntu because it is has been relatively simple to update and maintain thus far with minimal RTFM.
Already spent a fair amount of time configuring GPU passthrough and audio to be perfect, I don't want to go through the process of setting everything up all over again.
Major updates come up every 6 months that I assume would require me to setup everything anyway to ensure it all runs smoothly, if a rolling release would eliminate that then that could be good. What I do worry about however is that I won't be able to update my system if I haven't touched it for a long while.
>>
>>60345285
Because Arch is not about a "one size fits all mentality". There are generalized install scripts if you don't like to tailor your os to your needs, but then why would you take an interest in an os that advertises itself as a 'do-it-yourself' distro in the first place?
>>
>>60330727
Because I'm not a fucking autist that spends days configuring his OS only to make himself feel like he achieved something in his miserable life.

Take a shower, clip your nails, brush your teeth and get out of the house for a change.
>>
Because Ubuntu is even more comfy.
