I use a vm with luks full disk encryption. I don't think anyone who would use my pc would attempt to open a vm. When the vm is turned on I can stream the stuff over owncloud or smb. The vm can be remotely turned off and has a torrent client in it as well.

I don't anymore, but when I was a kid, I would hide it on the family computer like so:

- Make the folder hidden, since no one else in the house knew how to view hidden files and folders.
- Put the folder in a really random place on the C drive, like nested deep within some sub-folder of a program in Program Files.
- Basically make the path to the folder within that a numeric code by creating 0 -> 9 folders, wrapping that up in a folder, copying it 9 more times, and repeating as I worked my way out.

I'd also use password-protected Zip files, clear recent documents, internet history, etc. Other times I'd just print images out and then hide them under my dresser in my room.
