Why is this allowed?
>>

probably because they're valid unicode characters and anything that's a valid unicode character (okay, codepoints, whatever) can appear in a string.
>>
>>60321903
It's just a proof of concept. After all, emojis are just Unicode characters in the end.
>>
This isn't a "swift supports emoji" thing.
This is a "your editor knows that Unicode string is an emoji" thing

Is show that the code editor, parser and compiler toolchain supports proper unicode and multi-color characters.

There's nothing wrong with freedom to have choices, you autist.

Almost all of the underlying OS and compilers already support unicode. >>60321984 said it, already. You guys aren't even thinking like real autists.

kek. my Loonx Chromium can't even display colored emojis... and don't even get me started about terminals for linux and DEs. I don't even wanna think what gcc would do with emoji variables.

you have no fucking clue about what you're talking about.

Didn't /g/ try to make a programming language purely out of emojis at one point?
>>
>>60322601
but that shouldn't be allowed to happen
>>
>>60321903
Fun fact, i've gotten C to do the same thing under mac... it's not just swift
>>60321946
i think it's also an "OS has to know how to render emojiis" cause like idk if it'd work in windows, but mac's all support emojji so it's totally possible for mac terminal apps but may not be for other OSes

C and C++ only support ASCII "word" characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _) in variable names, so you'll be spared from the madness of modern languages.

>>60324984
/g/ doesn't suspect Windows would ever support colored emojis, because they're all still using Windows 7 which has just support for B/W glyphs, even when you have both Segoe UI Symbol and Segoe UI Emoji installed.
